Hello everybody!
I am new here and my name is Oliver. I am a huge Queen fan since the early 90s.
Until some time ago I owned only fragments of the Queen discography. I had only a few originals like Wembley 86 or Innuendo on MC, some CDs like Greatest Hits Platinum collection and a confusing selection of selfmade mixtapes.
Then I started to get more excited in collecting vinyls some months ago based on the purchase of an old classy vintage hifi record player, which put my listening pleasure on a considerably
increased level.
I already own about 500 records of various directions from Abba to ZZ Top. Especially I collect Metallica vinyls.
Anyway I decided to acquire a standard Queen collection on vinyl, consisting of all all regular Queen albums as well as the Live albums and Greatest Hits albums from 1973 to 1995.
Until today I have:
Queen I
Queen II
Sheer Heart Attack
A Night At The Opera
A Day At The Races
News Of The World
Jazz
Live Killers
The Game
Flash Gordon
Greatest Hits
Hot Space
The Works
A Kind Of Magic
Live Magic
The Miracle
At The Beeb
Innuendo
Made In Heaven
After accomplishing my mission with MIH cream vinyl a few days ago, I am now worried about the question if this is the right point to stop. Once again, I just want to own an essential collection, regular without any strange collectibles but equally without a gap.
I consider for example about purchasing Greatest Hits III, At The Bowl or stuff like that, but I am not sure if these are necessary components.
From my point of view the ultimate Queen timeline ends 1995 with Made in Heaven.
So can anyone please help me while telling me, if I am right with that oppinion or what items mandatory belong to a standard Queen discograpy collection beyond that?
Thanks for your support!
You've got the basics covered. I'd suggest you add Queen Rock Montreal - it's the best-sounding live album by far, and excellent performances.
If you want to hear earlier live material, the recordings of Rainbow 74 (March show), Hammersmith Odeon 75, Boston 76, Earls Court 77 and Houston 77 are essential listening. They're all unreleased (although Hammersmith has been shown on TV plenty of times) but they're all excellent quality.
As far as vinyl goes your pretty much done already having all the studiio albums. It wouldn't hurt to add the rest of the official live albums to complete the set in my opinion. Good effort by the way and welcome to the nuthouse.....I mean forum : )
Thanks a lot for these first statements! I feel really comfortable among so many like-minded people.
I just recognized, that I forgot "Live At Wembley 86" in my list.
By the way I also own the "Barcelona" Album from 1988 and as 7" single "Another One Bites The Dust" and "Flash".
And aside from that all my Queen vinyls are early pressings from the respective year of publication.
I will think about your proposals and have a look for the missing live albums. Maybe with a bit more patience and coolness than in the past weeks.
For now I take adequate pride in holding a slim but mostly complete collection.

So did I. Note that I didn't have an issue with it ! ;-)
The recent CD release of the Budapest '86 show is far, far superior. Be sure to grab that one.
Thanks, I will check this out.
However, currently I am more interested in collecting vinyl. For that reason I couldn't resist to purchase the Greatest Hits III 2LP yesterday. :-D
So the next objects of desire are:
Queen Rocks
Queen Rock Montreal
Queen On Fire - Live At The Bowl
Unfortunately all these seem to be a bit more rare/expensive in comparison to my previous purchases (except Made In Heaven), so I will patiently wait for a lucky moment on a fair or peddlers market.
