Queen to be something wich the youthful kids can relate to.. All that bullshit with PSY, and that Adam Lambert dude.. I understand it that they still want to be relevant in 2013-2014 but come on, there is no need to ruin your great legacy with THIS BULLSHIT?! I would say, release all the albums again with 1 or 2 remixes by some crappy artist, that way the new generation will get to know Queen ánd its still relevant because a lot of people (My age..) will by them because of some remix thats on there. The sad thing i always find is that people know Queen when you ask them about it, but the songs are almost always: Radio Gaga. We Will Rock You. Bohemian Rhapsody. And when i tell them that they make songs like: Innuendo. March Of The Black Queen. The Hitman. They think that those songs suck or they tell me that they never ever heard of it.. They need to find a normal way to be relevant again, the tour with Paul Rodgers was a great initiative, but they dont need to collaborate with PSY ?!?!?!?! I can tell you right now that the songs will be something like: A Kind Of Magic. Bohemian Rhapsody. Crazy Little Thing. Dont Stop Me Now. We Are The Champions. We Will Rock You. Radio Gaga. I Want To Break Free. If we get lucky: I Want It All. Show Must Go On. Breakthru. One Vision. |

People here will demonize you to no end for acknowledging anything concerning collaborations with Paul Rodgers and they demand that you accept the belief that Queen died in 1991 and will always remain as Freddie Mercury's solo group. |

I doubt we'll ever see a new Brian May album. I'm sure the PSY collaboration, if it will happen, will be just another rehash of We Will Rock You. |

My generation know a lot more queen songs in general. At least 1 Queen song is played each and everyday on the main radio stations like 538, Q Music, Sky, 3fm... Though I think Lambert is the right man to front the band at this moment. I was impressed to taste and feel that special atmosphere amongst the audience, something that lacked during the queenpr shows. Well for the band Queen is the present not the past they don't care about you seeing Earls Court orParis 79... They care about doong Queen projects now like teaming up with young artists , doing musicals and let their vote count for charity! |

IF Brian wants Queen to be something youthful kids relate to then surely Psy is the best thing to be going for right now.....?! |

I actually find this a fascinating subject. What, exactly, is the vision? Does one even exist outside the business model? I find it extremely difficult to tell. |
BradMay 05.05.2013 19:34 |
Yeah me too, i think its pretty fascinating to see an old rockstar go from being a fucking pioneer, to singing with a musical artist, and from that on, talking about badgers and re-releasing stuff with that GANGNAM idiot. @Mooghead.. Sure, if he wants to be relevant again he can have his go.. but please.. PSY?.. just DONT. I remember U2, or Bono anyways, he wanted to be relevant again, so what did he do.. collaborate with DJ Tiesto and recorded Pride again, and released it! And it was a hit here in Holland in the Clubs. In my opinion: if Brian wants to be relevant again he should 1: get off his lazy ass and make a new album with NEW material. and 2: IF he wants to collaborate with someone it should be a good DJ like Tiesto/Armin Van Buuren/David Guetta.. And not some crazy ass korean calling himself PSY... There also is a 3: Record some things with George Michael. NO-ONE can replace Freddie, but HE comes DAMN close.. |

You can make all the music you want to try and stay relevant, but promoting it is another matter altogether. Kind of hard if the record company won't play ball. |
BradMay 05.05.2013 19:58 |
True that.. "The Cosmos Rocks" isnt a Brian solo album though, thats what i ment. If Roger can pull it off then i'm sure Brian can do it aswell. The promotion is the most difficult task. But hey, i'd rather have an album thats not promoted with new stuff, then a heavily promoted album with remixes by PSY. |
k-m 06.05.2013 10:32 |
Trust me, "The Cosmos Rocks" would have sunk no matter how much money went into promoting it. It went to the Top 10 simply because it's a Queen album and there is a group of hard core fans who'd buy anything. As for solo recordings, it's an entirely different story. Brian's last effort, "Another World", reached no. 23 and he seems to be determined to secure higher rankings. The Dappy thing sold, so why not Psy? Does the end justify the means, I'm not sure, but yeah, there might be a few quid to make on this ;)

john bodega 06.05.2013 22:52 |
It's what any good artist should do - 'blame the record company'. I can't fault them when it comes to Cosmos Rocks, though. If I were an executive in charge of promoting that album, I would've had every single copy loaded up into crates and delivered to Brian May's loungeroom with a snarky note like 'nice, do it again without the sleazeball' or something. |

I never heard of PSY before this topic. So i watched a video of his, Gentleman or something like that. I must be getting old, because I didn;t get. He did remind me of Rex Lee, aka Lloyd from HBO's Entourage. |
