Asking 35 pounds for a 2CD + 1 BD release is too much ? Wow. Actually I think the price is OK, I'm used to buy single disc blu-ray releases for 15-20 Euros. 35-45 Euros is the standard price here for 2-3 disc releases. |
pogor1 17.10.2012 11:09 |
The price is ok i think ,and this product itself should be fantastic,as it's one of Queen's '86 highlights. Just Hope it's not going to be great collection of overdubbs |

link DVD+2CD for $30 at most? This is very acceptable. We should be lucky Queen aren't Japanese - for Japanese artists, let me name an example: Morning Musume Rival Survival 2010 Live 2 DVD a whooping 50 EUR (42 EUR without Japanese tax). The single Blu-ray was AFAIK about 80-90 EUR. So DVD+2CD for $30 and BD+2CD for about twice that is much more acceptable. |
cmsdrums 17.10.2012 12:16 |
I bought the Freddie 'Great Pretender' blu easy for £12.95 (on Amazon), and double CDs should really cost no more than about that too, so we should be looking at about £25 really. The Wembley 86 reissue with two whole concerts and a double DVD (albeit not blu ray) cost me less than £20 new when it came out!! |

Does anyone know what's going on with the release date? Loads of stockists have put the date back and Amazon UK is apparently stating a 6-9 week delivery! I've ordered from hmv but they say they the product has not yet been supplied to them which I find odd this close to the release date. |
cmsdrums 01.11.2012 04:08 |
Don't get confused on Amazon - the UK site bizarrely has the US version on import too and this may be the one that takes ages to arrive. |
OwenSmith 06.11.2012 10:52 |
I now have my copy from amazon.co.uk. I'm not sure why a US release would be any different since the packaging rear cover clearly states the Blu Ray is for all zones. One disappointment is the 5.1 sound is described as "DTS-HD High Resolution Audio 96/24" ie. lossy compressed. Dear god why? The disc is a BD50, I can't believe there isn't space for a DTS-HD Master Audio lossless 5.1 track. Personally I'd rather have lossless 48/24 than lossy 96/24. The annoying thing is the stereo audio is LPCM 48/24 ie. completely uncompressed, thus wasting space. Lossless compressed stereo audio would have helped if there are space issues. It disappoints me that DVD-Audio and SACD both had lossless compression of stereo tracks but if Blu Ray has it then nothing seems to use it. I assume you can have a DTS-HD Master Audio stereo track? If the US copy has proper lossless 5.1 audio that would be a reason to get it instead of the UK one. |
pittrek 06.11.2012 11:09 |
There is no such thing as a US version afaik, they are releasing one version only like they did for all their releases since the label change. Please don't touch the LPCM stereo, I'm glad they still add it. I will ALWAYS prefer a properly done stereo mix . Can't wait till my copy arrives |
cmsdrums 06.11.2012 13:25 |

I bought the Blu ray/cd-set (€ 25,90) and the cd's are now in my car.... You can say what you want about this release (again Magic tour, again the same setlist, we want seventies stuff,...) but: Budapest 1986 is a FANTASTIC performance! For me, it is the band as good as they could be in 1986. Freddie's voice is absolutely gorgeous,... We're always talking about FM hittin' high notes but it's the timbre of his voice and many of the lower and very powerful midrange stuff which makes me listen to his vocal abilities in pure admiration:-) The rest of the band just rocks and they're so solid and create such a huge wall of sound... |
The Real Wizard 07.11.2012 10:46 |
Agreed. Definitely one of their best shows. I can't remember how many times I had to listen to the vocal exchange with the crowd after Tie Your Mother Down. The sheer beauty of his voice/vibrato is unsurpassed. |

Aaaaaannnnddddd it's another blasted Digi-pack. Seriously, have these people never heard of PLASTIC DVD cases that hold multiple discs????? Yeah - it's the same kind of packaging as the Queen Live At Wembley Stadium 25th Anniversary Edition - but it feels even more flimsy - almost in that gray area where thick paper meets cardboard. The photos on the inside and back of the set are rubbish too - blurry pictures of lights and almost a silhouette (but not on a wall!) of Freddie The photo under the discs is okay (that yellow leisure suit is very 80's though!) I got mine from Amazon and they didn't package it very well so it is a bit disappointing. |

finally got it today. have only flicked through it so far, but my first impression is this; as far as picture, and even more so with sound, it's superior to both Wembleys. great to have it at the correct speed. such a shame it's not complete though. the band is tight, and the audio mix features all instruments superbly. one mistake I've spotted though; early on in One Vision, there is a shot of Roger doing a fill when the audio clearly has him holding a steady beat as far as the documentary; good stuff. some unseen clips. it's weird to listen to Jim Beach about Queen's future and think about how rigth he was... |

I know that times are tight right now, but this looks like a nice package and is a very reasonable price. It's an attitude like such that put me out of my physical store when I was trading a couple of years back and I had everything cheaper than the nearest competitors. Sold out in two Manchester branches of HMV although both young assistants went out of their way to track em down as both stores were showing them in stock. One was a young, black cool dude who even commented on how great Freddie was and likened him to Bob Marley as the 'Two greatest front men ever'! So with that I placed an order with them. Suuuuuuure. Full show on DVD would be nice but the full show is on the 2 CDs and the sound and performance is fabulous. This performance absolutely crushes Wembley to me. In fact it makes the Wembley 2 CD obsolete. I don't even have a copy anymore. Gave it away. Listened to it twice and that was enough. Second rate versions of the studio songs...but Budapest is another story Wembley DVD's a keeper of course but if I'm in my car I'm happy to pop in the Budapest CDs. I would've been happy with just a 2 CD audio set. It's hard to sit still and watch a full gig on DVD. Perhaps if I had a 72-inch TV screen and hi-fi surround sound I might enjoy them more. |
tcc 21.11.2012 02:15 |
I think there is more "filler" in the Wembley concert - somehow I feel that Freddie was in the centre of the music in Wembley whereas in the Budapest recording, Freddie seemed to be out there in front and the music was behind him. I prefer the Wembley concert because it was in front of a home crowd and the band seemed more relaxed. Freddie seemed to be having fun especially in the rock and roll segment. |
maxpower 22.11.2012 18:27 |
What I will say having not heard Budapest in full, is Freddie struggles here at the end like he did on the 2nd Wembley show Radio Ga Ga onward but overall a better show than that |
Future Manager 23.11.2012 12:36 |
Does anyone know if the dubbed intro guitar solo of One Vision is a studio overdub or taken from another show? It's definitely not what Brian really played in Budapest. I was wondering because this dub (it's the same on VHS and Blu) is by far my favourite version of this solo. |

I am not going to get into a debate on whether Budapest is better than Wembley or not, but I will agree that Freddie seems to talk alot more at Wembley, therefore seeming more relaxed. You can also tell towards the end of Budapest his voice is having a harder time. I love Budapest and I'm so happy the concert has been released in full! Makes me wonder why they cut out the 2nd verse of TYMD on the DVD? I know Freddie doesn't sing the exact melody, but it sounds great! |

I have the DVD and by using the "DVD Audio Extractor" -software I ripped the six DTS channels of two songs (In The Lap Of the Gods and Who Wants To Live Forever) only to find out that the center channel and the subwoofer channel (the "point one") are completely silent. So probably the whole DVD is actually only in 4.0 audio as opposed to the 5.1 surround sound it says on the cover... great marketing or am I missing something...? |

I just got the 2-CD/DVD set for my birthday two weeks ago and I think it massacres Wembley (or Overdubbed at Wembley as I call it). My dad was kind enough to buy it for me for my birthday on 24 January (or January 24 as us Yankees write it). I was not going to just settle for the DVD or Blu Ray it was either the 2-CD/DVD or 2-CD/Blu Ray so I went with former and I love it! Putting the CDs with the DVD made perfect sense as (like Queen Rock Montreal in 2007) the CDs have the full show whilst the film was as originally presented with new sound (at least the edits on some songs wasn't as bad as Genesis' Three Sides Live on the Genesis Movie Box).. I was originally going to grab at Christmas but I decided to wait until my birthday as other things like the Deluxe Edition of Rush's 2112 and a few other odds and ends made me put it off. |

e-man 31.08.2013 17:47 |
the DTS mix is a weird one....why not a proper HD soundtrack? imo, it's still a good mix, but it could have been ever bigger and better had they done a 100% lossless soundtrack for surround as well |
Nitroboy 01.09.2013 17:00 |
The one major flaw, is the audio level of the audience.... It's another Rock Montreal failure |
