Hi, Just posting a topic to see what kind of acetates there out there. I own about 25 of Queen and some solo ones. Which ones are know (I am compiling a list of them for record collector) So what I need to know : - Name of the manufacturer ( e.g. abbey road, trident, townhouse) - Content and lenght of the tracks - Does the content differs from the official releases - Date of the production - Specific remarks... - If possible a picture of the item I will make my sum up this week ! With pictures. |

Though I don't own any myself I've tried to collate some info for you :) There's a good page with info here: link Liar - Unknown version Edit: link Jesus (De Lane Lea Demo Version) - 8”, Trident Studios 1971. link Jesus (De Lane Lea Demo Version) - Trident Studios Different mix, mentioned here: link Keep Yourself Alive (1975 Re-Take) - 2-sided, Master Room. Features the “short edit” as the B-side (and possibly a different mix?). link Spread Your Wings (BBC Session 6) - 1-sided 10” EMIDISC 1977. link Son And Daughter (BBC Session 2) - EMIDISC 1973. link Keep Yourself Alive (Roy Thomas Baker Mix 2?) - 10”, Trident Studios 1973. link 5-Track De Lane Lea Studios Acetate - Owned by Brian May. Ogre Battle (BBC Session 3) - Edit of BBC Session recording. link link link Ogre Battle (BBC Session 3) - Maybe unedited? link Freddie Mercury - Exercises In Free Love - Regular version? The Townhouse. Possibly dubious spelling of “Freddy (sic)”! link Hot Space - Acetate containing David Bowie’s vocal on “Cool Cat” Japanese Fat Bottomed Girls/Bicycle Race - Album versions, with FBG fading out slightly early. link Headlong - Abbey Road Studios link Father To Son/Seven Seas Of Rhye - On display at the Stormtroopers In Stilettos exhibition. link Hope this helps! |

It could just be Bicycle Race combined with Fat Bottomed Girls. The track times line up - 3:01 and 4:16 with a two second break in between. |

This sounds like a ruse; a line thrown in the water with a littl ebait on the end in the hope that a certain someone from North Of The Border will photograph 'the most prized'...... Doubt it. |

Doubt it. No it's not ! Because of : 1 I want to know which acetates are out there - for me as a collector. Acetates are barely noticed in the discographies , and there is little information about it... Just want to make a total picture. 2 I am 10000% sure the Hangman does not excist! So I don;t need any proof or a fake picture spoiling this topic with this kind of nonsence ! The thing does not excist I am sure about this ! Keep watching a very very very exciting Acetate will be shown here within days ! |

As promised here a very special one... the holy grail of Queen acetates ! This was Norman Sheffield his own personal acetate. We all know the story that Queen weren't satisfied with the Trident/ Sheffield management, and John Reid paid a staggering 100.000,- uk pound, to get the band signed under his management. Just before the band left Queen/Trident were planning to release their first LIVE ALBUM. Due to the change of management this never happened. The project was shelved , and fans had to wait until 1979 before the first live album, LIVE KILLERS. With album and single in the top of the charts around the world this must have been a thorn in the eye for Trident. The same recordings weren't handed over to Reid yet... and they still tried to release a Queen live album. A wise choiche ... because at the time of "cutting" Boh Rhap and Opera were a huge succes all over the world and Queen was "massive". This would have make a lot of money.... but it never happened. The only remainder of this adventure is this very unique , this one and only copy of mr. Sheffiled himself... The content is unknown... this is a masterpiece in the history of Queen , was should have been their first live album... Needles to say ... Queen weren't fond of making live albums at the time ... they only forfilled the wish of fans due to a very heavy bootleg market... This was a reason for them to make Live Killers... It is a shame to only a few live recordings from early 70's remain. I think , personally, that this was Queens peak and pinnacle in their "live on stage"period.... I can also tell , that the Rainbow march 31st. 74 show was indeed recorded by Trident , and overdubbed , purely for promotional reasons... this one was given away to radio stations all around the world... hoping to sell more concert tickets. QUEEN - QUEEN LIVE Date : 02-13-1976 Format : 12" (HANDCUT!!) Content : Unknown - Queen live Label : Trident Number : None QUEEN LIVE ACETATE LABEL QUEEN LIVE ACETATE VINYL |
