Does anybody have any info on whether this is still going on?
Tiny mention of it in the daily mail but only because SBC is doing some comedy movie link
It's been really frustrating me how little I'm seeing about this movie. I've been actively following it for over a year now, and I'm still not even sure what it will be called. Hopefully, some reliable information will be coming out fairly soon, because from my understanding it should be released the autumn of 2013 (probably on September 5th)
My guess is there's no chance of it coming next year. Peter Morgan pulled out, Sascha Baron Cohen seems to be doing other things, and Queen are seemingly doing their usual hold up job too.
A late night entertainment show called Extra had a blurb on it last week. All they did was show a pic of SBC and announce he was going to play Freddie in the movie. Doesn't mean much though.

Yes, I've said that as well.
It astounds me that this is really a common-sense issue. Unfortunately, the ones thinking it's coming out next summer are the ones that think Queen is still the top band going right now.
Nobody cares. And especially about the "early days".
If they did, this board would be full of users.... instead of us 20 or so that come here.
maybe running costs have played a part, and have gone so expensive that the movie will have to be made, just to recover costs.......but......i dont know.
Sounds like it's in Development Hell! My guess would be that they're having a hard time getting the funding together because if it was fully funded, I imagine people would be falling over themselves to get it made.
Careful what you say, Microwave. One day soon, Freddie Mercury will rise from the dead and bring his old band back together once again and Queen will once again be the biggest band in all the land, just a the prophecies told long ago. Mr. Mercury's faithful servants will be rewarded graciously for their faith and dedication, while the unfaithful and those who doubted the great name of Queen shall be punished swiftly for their wickedness.
Don't become one of the wicked, Microwave.
The end is near; there is still time to repent.
I think a lot would depend on how well the Hungarian Rhapsody will do at the box office.
Frankly I do not want this movie to be done because I don't think SBC is suitable for the part. His promotional antics on the movie The Dictator puts me off.

Now that's a religion I could follow.
As for the movie I really hope it happens. I think SBC would be a great Freddie. He has a good resemblance and as his stint on Sweeney Todd showed, he can sing. I REALLY hope the movie happens, although with Queen and Brian and Rodger involved you know it will have all sorts of trouble. No doubt they will want it whitewashed completely of anything they deem unacceptable.
