How's this for an idea... Let them talk with their agents and promoters, consider if it is feasible, and then have them book the tour without a few hundred superfans telling them what to do? Considering the recent reviews, if QAL were to happen in U.S., there might be a cutting down of Roger and Brian mini-sets, which have been getting so-so reviews as opposed to Lambert's performances. |

Brian's been a little hit and miss, but Roger's sounding fine. I sometimes wonder if music journalists don't have form reviews written before the shows and outsource the specifics to someone in Calcutta who's never even heard the band. |

It's a Catch 22, I'm afraid. Get a mark (or hack, depending) like Lambert singing lead, and you have a general audience-friendly--or at least a supernerdfan un-friendly--gig, with a set put together to reflect that. Who knows what the breakdown of the audiences at the Hammersmith? Were they 30% IQFC types and 70% punters? Surely in the Ukraine et all it was more like 5% and 95%. At any rate, one reason for these critical responses persists has to be the reviewers are reviewing this as a "Queen" show, not even a "Queen +" show, or "The Music of Queen" show or the "Brian May and Roger Taylor using the Queen name show." It's all about billing. If Roger and Brian did their own revue, just the prospect of which I assume everyone on this board would have a spontaneous orgasm if it happened, it would be something else. And it probably wouldn't get reviewed at all, save Ultimate Classic Rock or something. Take Ray and Robbie (of the Doors), which packs 1,000-seat theaters in the U.S., and it's reviewed, for the most part, as two active members of a band with a dead lead singer and an inactive member (sound familiar?). Ray gets to sing a few album cuts, and then some creepy Jim Morrison look- and soundalike do the hard songs. And no one really pays attention to it, which I don't think Roger or Brian would want to do. And so we get reviews where they're not familiar that Roger and Brian even sang! |

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share it with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media so that the petition goes viral. If we get 1000 signatures this weekend (which is very achievable), I plan to issue a press release, with copies to Queen's record company, etc. At that point, if the petition gets picked up by music blogs and radio stations, I think the number of signatures will increase exponentially and maybe even get the attention of Queen and Lambert management and other music industry bigwigs and demonstrate that there is REAL support for Queen in the United States. AND SO, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SHARE THE PETITION ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER, AND OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA. By the way, in order to maintain the integrity and seriousness of the petition, I had to delete the 'entries' by Anita Dobson, Taylor Hawkins, and Lambert's poodle. As far as I know ( could be wrong)there were no AL fans contributing to this site before Q+AL. They claim to be huge Q fans however, I seriously doubt it. But then, that's my opinion and not a slam at them! They will see AL no matter where he goes or who with and hey, if FM were still alive I'd do the same. |
