I was listening again the new G.Michaels single and i realised for the fisrt time what i deep down strugeled not no admit. The story goes back in my teenage years, when these two men changed my life. F.Mercury and 2 years later G.Michael entered into my consious and nothing was the same again ( *i am so drama today).
Lets not pretend. Those two men/artists share something common underneath. This is why "somebody to love" at Wembley 92 created such a buzz.G.Michael is the "less instict more heart" evolution of F.Mercury.I am really amazed that this undergoing line that colide them, has never been documented. For me, apart from other, is the evolution of the homoseual man to the gay man. Its also the evolution of some male quality that has inside very masculine energy combined with something not so woman but somehow feminine/childishly charged.
In reality these characteristisc are not that rare to men , especially men under heavy/complex conditions. But in form of art, it was only these two artists that were able to give that quality a life of its own by composing, singind, performing. Especcialy performing.
How ever Freddie if lived would be in a completely different state from where is George now. Micael in order to survive psycologicaly, became clininical. A fraction of his former shelf, who is only able to contain.
I cant imagine Mercury doing that. He would have died from "pure guts going mad " in the process. Noway today Michael and Mercury would have some resemblance.
But the promlem is not there.
The problem is i can never imagine a living 2012 Mercury able to contain the truch we witnesed form his carrer those 20 years. The problem is that Mercury if survided, and never infact been touched by the illness, would have a huge problem transform himsheld.During the nineties he would have hitted somekind of block. Not only artisticly but in terms of life-style and even life itshelf.
The more primitif roots/nature of the man( perhaps even some never really manifested inner conflicts) would have come to bite back.Aids or not Freddie would have had problems. This is the very strong feeling i have.
(...well guess what , this post got to a comletely different direction) *well, thats just me:-/
This song is probably to thank the hospital staff who saved him when he was down with pneumonia.
"Micael in order to survive psycologicaly, became clininical. A fraction of his former shelf, who is only able to contain." - this sentence makes me think that you are describing GM as a living dead :-)
Maybe Freddie would have had problems even without Aids, but there's no way for us to know.
Anyway, I think that Freddie died in a... painful way. So if he hadn't died that way, he probably would not die in such a sad way...
Well, it's not exactly what I meant but it's the best I can do with my knowledge of English

I over-exagerrated i must admit.I was focused on the sound of the new single and the way Michael's personality seem to have changed the last couple of years. He was just oozing with passion and now he seemS to me much more detouched. ...Well, the trouth is, he may no longer give a fuck about things he confronted in the past. However artistically this is a downfall and it distances him from the "sheer-guts" approach /output of Freddie's.

Isn't GM an habitual marijuana user? Maybe over time it has mellowed him out to the point of losing the passion in his music.

Yeap, you are right. He has been smoking for years. But in times like "Shoot the dog" it didnt seem to effect his edge. At some point it even seem to increased it.
There was a window in time when George represented everything taboo and dark. Homosexual, drug user, cruiser, against America.I guess at some point he had to calm down becouse there was too much red flugs waving above his head.
Personally i wish he gains some of his edge buck, couse he is so much more than a retro artist or what the new single implies him to be. (* i am alive- i am alive- i am alive- i am alive- ...OK WE GOT IT!!! )
