Good to see after all this time Giorgio Moroders Version of Metropolis is coming out on DVD july 23rd. link
Wonder if we will see Love Kills being released also. And wonder what mix would be released as there has been so many. I love this version best. Love Kills Star rider mix. link
Always heard it was an absolute piece of shi*...
This is nowhere near as significant as the 30 minutes that had been found and restored to the film a few years back from a private collector in South America (most likely a Nazi ex-patriot ;)
That said, I'm glad this GIORGIO MORODER film version has finally been re-released. Always heard there was a laserdisc and vhs version.
POS aside; that was a good thing to do...reviving interest in a classic film during the emergence of 1984 (the seminal dystopian namesake courtesy of George Orwell)
POS aside 2: I'll be sure to watch this version. I'll have alcohol on standby in case it gets shaky/testy.
Thanks for the info!
I'm not impressed by what I've seen of this 'remaster' so far.
I've got a feeling it wont be anywhere near as good as the Gilchrist redux.
Hope I'm wrong.

it's a badly made, over length music clip butchering a timeless classic (the movie, not the music :-).
so: agreed but for the fact that the 'additional' 30 mins were found in a movie museum. no nazi myths here.
As much as i love the original, i do consider morodors version to be art, which defines the mid 80's. How modernising became more dated that the things that were modernised.
Like colourised movies, there is a fascination and curiosity about them which means they do have a place to be enjoyed.
I've never seen Moroder's version actually. Not sure if I'd enjoy it after having seen the 'complete' restoration of the original.

They are not comparable, and really shouldn’t be compared.
One is an extended music video to someone playing with a synthesiser the other is the movie.
One is timeless, the other is very much of it's time.
One gets everything right, the other gets things very wrong.
