Hi all, I've been with The Miracle album doing my second "revision" to change a bit its sound. This time, I'm trying to incorporate all the stuff as I can in good studio (or almost) quality, into other things (that why is taking a bit long).
Well, I was with Was It All Worth It, and thought about making a mix with it. This is my favorite song, I really love it, because of the union on the band and the fact that every time you listen to it, you'll hear a new hidden sound or strange bit (ex, there's an antique bike horn on the opera section!).
Don't expect the greatness, the point of this was just make something with the song to distract me from working on all the other songs (plus, I've been working on some ADatR songs). Anyway, I've done it with a lot of love, like all my projects.
In a few days, The Miracle will be uploaded. Meanwhile, you can hear this mix.
I've done it from WAS IT ALL WORTH IT MULTITRACK!!!
(joke... How I wish to have it!)
Here is the mix, enjoy something different:
Thanks both for the answer! I know, it is weird hahaha, that was the main idea, its like someone dreaming, like the surrealistic artistic movement.
Blaise, I'll put both on the second "extras" CD just to have them there.
This song emphasises the fact that they really didn't need all of those computerised, overdubbed, drum sounds like on most of the other tracks on The Miracle. The album would've been 100 times better, had it all sounded like a full band playing naturally like this. I will look forward to hearing the remix when I get a chance to download it. :)
I'd stick to your day job, Matt, and carry on with those great album revisions. ;)
This sort of thing doesn't do a lot for me, but an interesting one off listen. :)
Blaise, thanks again for comment, I suposse you mean the reversed main part. It sounds awesome even in the other played way, its a new song.
Kacio, I've done this remix the same day I uploaded it, it was something experimental while working with the original one and heard some strange new sounds.
Fickle, what you say is true, the didn't need the digital drums (which steal strenght to some songs, like Khashoggi's, IWIA, Breakthru and others). I like the natural feeling which gives you the idea they are in the studio natural performing songs as a rutine and enjoying it live. Thank you very much for your words. I'm having a lot of problems with I Want It All, the original versions sounds bad to my ear. In a few days this album will be uplodeaded.
A new kind of remixes, watch out! ;-) Queen released Blurred Vision so why not to accept this WIAWI remix ;-) Sometimes it's nice to hear something not too advanced but a little simple work which... works fine for me! :-)
Thanks PiotreQ, I enjoyed doing this one, just in an hour, full remixes takes so much more time. I'm thinking now about the next I'll do hahaha. I'm glad you liked it and knew how to listen to it!
Do you have the stems for I Want It All, Matt? They contain the 'real' drums, which you might be able to put to some use, although, when I tried, it sounded awful lol!
Yes, I tried too hahahaha. The problem is that the digital parts which were replaced were the snare and the bass drum. Both requiere separated microphones for each one, which aren't present in the stems because being replaced (but they must be in the original recording tapes).
The only original real drums piece is the room mics mix, which contains the cymbals and the toms, but only the room resonance from the snare and bass drum; that's why it sounds bad, because actually both parts are absentm by being replaced by the digital ones, we don't have the hit, it sounds "bum daa" instead of "Pum! Tsah!".
By the way, the 5.1 remix from GVHII seems to be done from the original tapes, and has a more natural sound. I'll include this mix for stereo system too.
The only way to change them is putting some new ones, which goes far from the idea. Thanks for your suggestion :)
Really good.
... waiting for The Miracle (Revision)
:) link link
Has somebody listen to them? (If you have, can you express your opinion about?)
Thanks, AlexQ.
Thanks, Alex! I heard both of them, really good mash ups (I liked more the first one). I'll upload it by weekend I suposse. Now I'm uploading a The Miracle remix, which will be included for sure into the CD2 of the revision.
Cheers!
