What a curious predicament ... the Lap of the Gods have spoken and chosen Adam (a fitting name, by the way). But is this a predicament at all? Will the universe collapse? Will people have nervous breakdowns in the streets?
Adam has not voted himself to this position in life - that was for others to say and determine. However, he is willing to do this. Recognize that some humble musical beginnings are not always the best indicator of future success: Exhibits A, B and C: IBEX, Wreckage, Sour Milk Sea. Freddie grew into what he was over a 20+ years period. How many Tim fans wanted to turn their back on SMILE when Brian & Roger took on Freddie - perhaps someone even burned a record, who knows the reaction?
The point is to be more resilient in life and see what happens. It might be really good or we might want to forget the night ever happened ... who really knows?
Good on Adam for accepting the challenge of it.
Perhaps because Smile wasn't together for 20 years has sold 300 million records and Staffel is a legendary singer/songwriter. There is a time for everything and Queen's time was the 70s,80s and early 90s . That sums it up. I for myself don't need to see a band were members are 60 years old, i wouldn't want to see Mercury on stage at that age and if i remember he agreed calling it ridicules being on stage at a certain age. Retiring with style at a certain age should be mandatory for rock bands.
hi,
I am actually quite positive about it. I think that he has a better range for Queen songs. And lots of energy.
I have got tickets to the Knebworth show. I guess i will actually go. I think it will be a better Queen show than with PR.

I can tell you absolutely that NO ONE ANYWHERE burned any Smile albums when Freddie replaced Tim. Freddie, Roger and Bri formed Queen in 1971. The Smile album wasn't released until 1982 - and even then as a Japanese-only release.
...and as for the single - a USA only release that didn't make the billboard chart - so no burnings of that either!
But i daresay, you'll skip over your inaccuracy if it gets in the way of a great comparison
Brenski,
I wrote "perhaps". And "who knows". I also used a question mark. This was to indicate possibility, not PROOF. So anyhow it cannot be known.
So how about maybe a tomato was thrown or someone turned their back?Perhaps..... Perhaps .... It's all possibility. But to your point .... Thanks.
