Hi again fellow Queensters, just posting in something Queen related stuff for the sake of fellow Queen fans.
This post topic isn't much, but it has to do with Queen, and my recent visit to my sister and brother in law to colorado,a great and wonderous state here in the USA.
First off,at a local book and video thrift store called BLACK AND READ in arvada Colorado, and a great one at that,I managed to get at least one final LP copy of the 1984 Queen album THE WORKS,we have a retro fitted LP record player so I can play LP's on it,but I still prefer CD's naturally of course, but have been happy to get not only this version of a great Queen album as well as two more recently,NOTW and SHA as well.
While there,I noticed they had rock and roll posters of pink floyd and others,so I thought..maybe they have some Queen posters, and lo and behold they had at least one and it was of the LP collection, and I bought it brand new for a few bucks, and now I have at least a 2nd poster of Queen for my soon to be growing collection of Queen momentos(I got a freddie mercury poster of the wembley 86 concert as well.) For me,getting a queen poster is a rarity, because for two reasons,I have other interests besides Queen, and you can't just find posters like these at the local Wal-mart or target store..now can you? Oh sure, you find justin beiber, but absolutely no freddie. Heh,ah well.
On a related note, believe it or not, california based Queen tribute band QUEEN NATION was also playing at the beaver creek resort in colorado,but...we weren't able to head there, too far away to begin with and my bro in law was very ill while we were down there..so no dice. Well,at least I know of two other great cover bands down in colorado to see next time...a RUSH one and an 80s style music cover band which were both good.
Anyways,at least for now some queen stuff to relate and share with you here right now,but rest assured I will take whatever opportunity to grab what I can find of our supreme fave rock band themselves, whether it be a t-shirt(Still planning to get one at the local Hot Topic at a mall I know of.)or another of their great great albums. I'll report more when I bring it home.
Anyone here got any new queen stuff to share?
Oh yeah,and I clean forgot...HAPPY BIRTHDAY FREDDIE MERCURY! AYEE-OOH!
That's so cool that you ran into Queen stuff in Colorado.
Stateside - Queen items are mostly scarce. A poster in an actual shop is a huge find in the USA. It seems only ebay has these
things.
My most recent Queen purchase was last month ... the newly available Queen t-shirt at Old Navy (USA). It's about time a t-shirt was found here. I see rock tribute t-shirts all the time at stores such as Target, but never Queen - so I could scarcely believe it when I spotted one at Old Navy.
Thanks for the reply QUEENUSA,it's good to hear from a fellow american about queen collecting. And yeah, queen items statewise are very scarce. For me,collecting stuff like comic books, movies, anime(Rare stuff on that preferably.)and PS2 games are pretty easy when you get the hang of it,but queen merchandise gets as hard it gets, even finding queen albums you really want are hard to come by.
And yeah, finding a new queen poster in a shop was a huge find for me. Now all I need is a new frame to put it in and up on my wall at that.
Oh yeah, and what exactly does this new Queen shirt from old navy look like and what sizes do they have it in? That's what i'd really like to know.
