Hello !
I'd like to ask if you could explain one thing...
I've always been really astonished by the Goin' Back recording which Freddie made in 72'. Now, some people say that in the original mix, sound engineers or producer or whoever was in charge pitched Freddie's voice so it would sound that high.
Could you tell me whether it's true or someone, who claims that the untouched original sound like this link is wrong.
Cheers !
Its impossible to say which is the 'original' pitch without having the master tape, which I do*
Its suspiciously as if someone is making young Freddie sound like old Freddie.
*lie
It was quite normal practise to speed up recordings in the final mastering - so I should imagine if you slow GB you hear the vocal at the original speed.
Yeah, it's definitely sped up on the original release.
But the video, I think is tuned down a little too much.
If you listen to the end of 'Mother Love', thats the speed I believe it was meant to be.
Sebastian would know way more about this.
