Hello you all :
Theres any metropolis release (dvd - blu ray) incluiding love kills and the other rock songs ????
Im not asking about the 1984 soundtrack , i mean the film ....
Thnx!
Nope, only Bootleg laser disc Prints.
BUT, KINO video (who released the completely authorised restored version of metropolis last year) have just acquired the rights to release Giorgio moroders 1985 edit on DVD, So it will probably be out soon.
That is actually GREAT news!
I've been waiting for an official DVD/Bluray release of the 1985 version. This combines my Cult/Sci-Fi, Movie History, Special Effects and Queen interests all in ONE!! awesome!
If it's the movie you're after I'd suggest the restored BluRay version. that one is clean and crisp.
Anyone find the urge to remake the GaGa video?
PS: I did find this: link
The superior version by far is the new 147 minute edition. It restores most of the footage recovered up to now, and is nearly complete: at the premiere in january 1927, the film ran close to 153 minutes (we think, with a fair degree of certainty), though it might have been as long as 210 minutes (in which latter case the film would have been played a third slower than on the prints in which it was preserved, meaning not as much footage is missing as the 210 minutes imply). It was butchered into a 93-minute cut and a 114-minute cut, which rendered the film almost entirely incoherent. The Giorgio Moroder-version of Metropolis that featured 'Love Kills' was a cut of only 80 minutes! It left nothing intact and is a rambling wreck saved only by its original choice of soundtrack (did I mention that Metropolis' original soundtrack couldn't be used because nobody in the age of sound really knew which sections of the film were missing, and thus which parts of the music belonged where?).

It is because the 1984 Moroder-version is so short and rambling that it probably won't be released ever again, I think.
You have a point, but I like the Moroder-version for the same reason I like Hot Space. I grew up on it, regardless of the quality, and therefore I want to own it in the best possible quality. The LD version is fine as far as bootlegs go, but I'm still hoping for an official release.
I think the only merit of the Moroder's version was to maintain/raise interest on the film and introduce it to a whole new bunch of generations. Now answering the question, there IS a Greek DVD version which is actually licensed.
