Looking ahead to the release of The Works, A Kind of Magic, The Miracle, Innuendo and Made in Heaven I was wondering what the bonus CD's would contain in the deluxe versions. TW and AKOM would no doubt have a couple of live tracks we already have but I was thinking more of the last three. What would these contain as Freddie never performed any of these live it would be limited to instrumentals and previously unreleased tracks (fingers crossed). I suspect The Miracle may contain A New Life is Born and perhaps Dog with a Bone and Lost Opportunity might appear on Innuendo but after that I am stuck for ideas as to what might be released. I just hope for Made in Heaven we don't get solo versions of IWBTLY, MIH and TMLWKY. Any thoughts? |
dysan 12.05.2011 06:37 |
They'll miss a great opportunity if The Miracle doesn't contain all the non album B-side. That would be a fantastic package. Please not the demos or 12" mixes. The Works needs to have the single versions (they are different enough to warrant inclusion). I've kind of given up trying to guess these bonuses - they don't seem to adhere to any rules! |
Squidgy 12.05.2011 07:34 |
Of course, how could I forget Stealin' and Hijack my Heart. |
dysan 12.05.2011 07:59 |
I could do without Stealin'! As a side point - I wonder if they'd follow the original CD versions of the albums - IE having 'the extra magical ingredients' on the main AKOM CD plus the bonus disc, and the 3 (or was it 4?) additional tracks on the end of the original Miracle CD in addition to the bonus disc. That would be nice. Or just keep the vinyl tracklistings? |

The Works Bonus Hammer to Fall ( single versions) I Want To Break Free (single versions) Thank God its Xmas I Go Crazy TW tracks @ live aid Rock in Rio Blues Magic Bonus One Vision (extended) Forever Highlander versions of Magic tracks Miracle Bonus Hang On in There Chinese Torture Stealin My Life has Been Saved Hijack My Heart Dog With A Bone? Innuendo Bonus Innuendo (Explosion ending) Self Made Man I cant live with you (rocks retake) Headlong (music video version) Made In Heaven most likely unused mixes. Thou I think the EMI pressing of the album is good enough as the Island records version imo would ruin the artwork considering the delux editions use that book style case |

Isle of Red....good opinion, and that's why most of your suggestions won't make it;-) As to MIH......the 45 edit of 'A Beautiful Day' makes sense. And then they'll add four (or more) of the sixteen YDFM versions, just to keep in line with the overall quality of the previous releases. |
Over the Field 12.05.2011 14:34 |
A Kind of Magic with Highlander versions of Magic tracks would be nice! |

You are missing Robbery on Innuendo :) And according to a sleeve that my 5 albums contained this next and final 5 re-issues will be out for September |
pestgrid 12.05.2011 19:48 |
if the previous does appear on the releases I will be very disappointed as I own 99.9% of what was listed......we want tracks we havent heard before....much unheard magic is there from the tape reels....just waiting to be heard.......just even the chatter between the band is magic let alone all the unfinished songs....demos of songs....takes of songs.....home recordings....and unheard alternative lyrics for at least of 85% of the entire queen catalogue..............thats alot of hours of listening magic that has never seen the light of day...... |
Pim Derks 13.05.2011 00:21 |
- Stone Cold Crazy (live at the Rainbow) - My Melancholy Blues (live at Houston) I doubt those would be on a Miracle re-issue, seeing as the remake of KYA was on ANATO and the demo for Beautiful Day will appear on the Game - thus appearing on the record from the era they were recorded in, NOT the era in which the original recording was released. |

Like LOTG from 86 on Sheer Heart Attack? |
GT 13.05.2011 02:56 |
We haven't even started the compiling of material for what we can use for the third and final batch of CD re-issues. But obviously, there is going to be more tracks to choose from than the last two batches. As someone has pointed out already, there are no rules regarding the tracks that make up the bonus EPs. It's nice to have a bit of everything, including live tracks, demos, single versions and BBC sessions, and more tracks will be considered for the last batch that have never seen the light of day, I'm sure. And before anyone says it's up to us at QPL what eventually gets chosen, it's not, it's down to Brian and Roger. |
Rick 13.05.2011 03:22 |
Oh well, we probably WON'T see the following: - Man Made Paradise (Queen version) - Love Kills (Queen version) - Let Me Live (demo version from 1983) - Friends In Pain (if it even exists) - Stealin (12 minutes version) - Dog With A Bone - I Guess We're Falling Out - A New Life Is Born - Ride The Wild Wind (Roger's vocal take) - Innuendo (Roger's vocal take) - Robbery - My Secret Fantasy - Self Made Man - Face It Alone There's probably more... |

since we're on the topic of the next remaster releases, What 14 tracks from the final 5 albums would be used for Deep Cut 3. |

GT, re: > It's nice to have a bit of everything, including live tracks, demos, single versions and BBC sessions, and more tracks will be considered for the last batch that have never seen the light of day, I'm sure. But that just makes the re-issue programme seem like it has no clear direction in all honesty. "Well, we'll stick that on there because of X, Y & Z and we can also shove that on too blah blah." I was really hoping for a definitive 2-CD set for each album, but, yet again, where other bands have set the standard for re-issue programmes, Queen have failed to live up to anything remotely like anything else. Still lingering in the distant space where there's hope of a definitive box set release of studio rarities. Oh yeah....other bands have put out FAR better material than Queen could possibly hope to achive, haven't they! "Queen - The Budget Remasters, available if you can be bothered, butbet ter to download them as torrents when they become available." |

Just take a look at the U2 deluxe edition (Island Records)... |

Do we have to have these threads where people guess what the bonus tracks on each remastered album are going to be. It drives me fucking crazy. |

I wanted them for their asthetic packaging, for the Peter Mew remastering, and for the b-sides. For those who want official single versions and b-sides... THOSE are the items to buy. Why duplicate b-sides on the bonus EPs? new remasters of Greatest Hits I & II, are obviously aimed at casual or new fans, just wanting the well-known tracks. but for these remasters, where you're aiming to, i believe, long-time fans (or perhaps a few new fans who care about audio integrity and quality as opposed to the Greatest Hits crowd mentioned above)... QPL has such a great opportunity to reach into stuff that is UNTAPPED thus far. It shows respect for the fans, and it will in turn serve your sales better. Can you please explain the logic in putting previously released (and widely available) live tracks from official live releases on these EPs? It's just maddening to know there are brilliant performances that are only available as so-so quality bootlegs that COULD be included, and then to see something from Wembley or Montreal 81 or Milton Keynes taking one of the coveted 5 spots. As fellow fans, you surely understand our feelings on that... I'll buy all of these, no matter what's on them. not because I am rolling in money, but because i love this band. And high praise for some of the great wins thus far (De Lane Lea demos, It's A Beautiful Day original idea, You Take My Breath Away Hyde Park, and BBTLB a cappella - LOVE these). Keep it up... If we knew for a fact that a COMPLETE BBC set was forthcoming, and a COMPLETE 12" mixes collection was forthcoming, and ANY official live releases from the 70's were forthcoming... we'd relax a bit. The comments are heated here, because we're all afraid this is our one chance to get some of the things we've longed for, and fear they might not happen... thanks |

Don't read it then. It's a Queen forum to discuss anything to do with Queen, If I choose to ask people's opinions on what might be coming out so what? That's my choice, if people don't want to reply then that's up to them. |
*goodco* 16.05.2011 12:20 |
If it's up to Brian and Roger..............................don't they frickin listen? Are they surrounded by 'yes' men? Jim Beach has been the worst, IMHO, at presenting Queen to Queen fans. They continually put out a cheap product. Hence, the majority of long-time fans don't buy the re-issue garbage. I can think of dozens of long time friends who would have presented lengthy lists of worthwhile bonus tracks. All of us would have wished that a particular track or two would have been included on each album. But at the end of the day, we would have been ecstatic with the 9-10 bonus songs featured..........from our input. 'WE' just don't get it. |

Well I don't have the Singles Boxsets so I'd be happy to see the studio B-sides next door to their album counterparts. However I will speculate... -The Works could contain a full EP of studio stuff, but there's also Live Aid and Rio live stuff to choose from? -Magic, hopefully has the "Highlander" version of AKOM and perhaps New York, New York (Even a partial version would be enough). Hey they dug up some Flash soundtrack rarities. They'll definitely showcase the Magic Tour somehow, but hopefully they use something other than previously released Wembley tracks. I'm also wondering if AKOM and Miracle will feature the CD bonus tracks, or if they'll be delegated to the 2nd disc or scrapped altogether? Here's where it gets interesting though because the last 3 can't contain anything live, in theory, but they COULD add later live recordings with other vocalists although hopefully not! Made in Heaven will be a good opportunity for something new/undiscovered in my opinion and I hope we don't just get the YDFM remixes, I mean the song IS already a remix of leftover vocal parts surely we don't need re-remixes? Surely there's some alternate versions/mixes of these tracks that they scrapped or other solo/vault tracks they rerecorded? Looking forward to seeing how they finish this series up, unless they wanna do an expanded The Cosmos Rocks? :-) j/k |
