Hmm, Backlash, Backlash you burn all my energy!! It seems to me that 2011 Queen's 40th Gala, and Freddie's 20th Anniversary is gaining a lot of negative feedback. The re-mastering of the catalogue seems to be the focal point of all this with people wondering what 'bonus or rare' tracks they will get. Will the sound be any good? Why this? Why not that? Look, the reality is that Queen have changed labels and are re-mastering the catalogue. The product and contents are the decisions of Queen/Island, and they will do as they see fit. End of story. Queen albums will get a new lease of life in the shops with or without bonus content. You can't please everyone. The last time they were remastered was 1993 remember! Technology has changed a lot in 18 years. I love Queen over 25 years now, I'm a keen vinyl collector with a hughly diverse collection and I don't really care about the nitty gritty of new product or the way it will be presented. I have all the albums and each one is special in my memory so all the re-mastering/re-packaging won't make a difference in the end. When I want to listen to Queen I stick on my iPod, or iTunes when at my PC or LP when the fancy takes me. I don't care as long as I can hear the fantastic music and Freddies amazing voice. So what is a Queen fan? Somebody that loves the bands music or nit-picks about stuff like re-issues instead of being happy that you are part of one of the greatest rock bands of all time as a listener! Queen are a great band, they sell a great product, and that is their music. As Freddie said at the Milton Keynes show in 1982 "It's only a bloody record, people get so excited about these things"!!
