Has anyone read any of the bios on the new Queen site?
I haven't read them all*..just a few paragraphs of Freddie's, and so far, the writing and grammar is pretty poor. It's quite amazing, how they can't even have properly written bios on their new Official site.
And from a purely aesthetic point of view, that's a terrible photo of Freddie to use as the main one for his bio page.
* I went back and read all four bios...the ones for Brian May and Roger Taylor (albeit his being rather brief) were done well, but John's seems to have been written by the same person who wrote Freddie's and has its share of grammatical errors and questionable writing.
Yeah it's a strange site and I noticed strange errors and sentence structure in the Discography bit. I was intrested in listening to the tracks in that section. I wounder if that is what the tracks will sound like as I found it not that great.
The content is very poor and why the hell did they use this terrible font? Looks like Times New Roman to me, for god's sake. I know the guys from OutsideLine are good enough to do a better job - and they should do it soon!
In the section "about the band" says Freddie died surrounded by friends and family, I thought Jim and Peter were the only persons to be present when he died
It also says, last year, 2004 they were inducted into the rock & roll walk of fame... I don't think we are in 2005
Yeah some bits are alright but other parts are pretty awful. They're even using images from eBay in the discography section! Rife with grammatical errors too.
I don't think design/technical bits of the site are that bad. I'd do some things differently (e.g. placing all the Javascript at the bottom). Still, for an official website for one of the biggest bands ever it's a bit low on content. Apparently there'll be more stuff soon...
Has to do with some guys at QP. They don't want to hire expensive professional designer and/or writer employees who work for them. Instead it looks like the design and creative parts are left alone for some noobs. For example the cover of 'Queen Rock Montreal' which was made in Windows Paint to save some money for the the Absolute Greatest project which was a big succes with all those great re-re-re mastered tracks that we haven't seen on any other compilation.
I agree, the design is already dated. Out of curiousity, I took a look at the Freddie Mercury bio, and it appears that somewhere there is one unlucky fourth grader, who was given the task of writing band member biographies as a school project.
It's symptomatic of the entire organisation - a complete lack of attention to detail and an arrogance towards people who do in fact know better.
Fuck them - don't buy their products or access their websites. Unofficial channels are ALWAYS more revealing / entertaining / worthwhile.
They only have themselves to blame.
Indeed! the redaction is prety awful!
"4. Rare live performances of Stone Cold Crazy from their memorable 1974 Rainbowe concert is available here."
Performances?? Rainbowe??
who wrote this?? the goodoldfashionedloverboy QZ user (Please,No offense)??
I don't speak a perfect English,but it's a strange redaction for a Official Page!
Cheers!
Yeah, the new website is really strange somehow. Some kind of patchwork, the structure seems a bit confusing.
Just saw that the queen40.jp website launched already, it does not offer as much content as queenonline and I don't understand a japanese word, but I like the design a lot more.

Well, the Queen II Cover is slightly different i can't say if is better but looks like the original picture as was taken by Mick Rock without the "paste" effect
Cheers!
That link doesn;t work for me. Is this the page? link
The cover to the compilation Queen 1973-1976 is there too. Cheap and bland, as we've come to expect these days.
