You decide which era of Queen is your favourite. It could be the early years or the 1980s, DISCO ERA. Preferably I'd like to hear your opinions on the eras 1971-1981 and 1981 - 1997. My favourite era would have to be the 1970s. Queen in the 1980s were a great live band and released many fantastic single but I think the Hot Space album completely changed the Queen sound, replaced by electtonic drums and drum machines. I'd wish that albums such as The Works and A Kind of Magic had more variety in the sound and musical styles. The same with Innuendo: songs like These are the Days of Our Lives, Innuendo, The Show Must Go On, Headlong and also I Can't Live With You/Bijou are in my opinion classic Songs but the rest of the songs on the album don't quite hit the heights. I mean, Innuendo really could have been an identical album to Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera, Day at the Races if the standard of a hand full of songs were higher. |

1973 - 1976 i just love the fashion and how its so different to the modern world, its pure excapeism :) and freddie's voice, i dont know what it was, but he seemed to lengthen it more, like he could be realy high and realy low in the same song, he was just so THERE! listen to the prophets song, freddie's voice is so powerful! |

Well, I've come to think of '70's Queen and 80's Queen as almost two different bands in a way, lol! They went as far as they could in the '70's in that particular path that they were on...for them the change was just natural for the '80's. They wanted to remain successful and "relevant" in the '80's. In hindsight it seems like it was kind of a mistake. But I really love most of what they did in the '80's. They seemed to have "turned a corner" with Innuendo, though...and if Freddie had been healthy, who knows what would have come in the years afterward. His vocals on the Innuendo album were his best since A Day At The Races, imo. So many shades! But...yeah...1973 thru 1982(YES! Hot Space was exciting and groundbreaking) is the best era of Queen...with Inuendo an interesting and heartbreaking caveat. |

For me, from Queen until Jazz they were at their best. Jazz still had some good songs but it felt like an end of an era. These years in my opinion were Queen at their best. |

74 through 78. Sheer Heart Attack to Jazz. Five of the best albuims by anybody and they were prolific. The 80's was not without it's charms but in that period Queen became more of a singles band and I now very rarely listen to any of those albums. Innuendo was a partial return to form in '91. |

For me, SHA, NATO and ADATR are Queen at their artistic best. Incomparable. |

From Queen II up to and including Day At The Races. The Game/Hot Space is probably my favorite live-era. Soundwise I really enjoy the production/mix of Made In Heaven and Cosmos Rocks. Very rich sound IMO. I'm no expert at all, but I wish every album sounded like that. |

Being a fan since day one i'd have to say for defo - Queen right through till Day At The Races for me that was there best period although News Of The World/Jazz & Live Killers are brill too, after that for the time all the rest of the albums were good but differant, got a soft spot for hot space probably because the tour was good.... At the end thought both The Miracle & Innuendo were great albums.... Concert's - all 73 till crazy tour 79 were amazing, afterwards still good but not as good as the 70's,,but still glad i saw all the tours. |

Nothing beats the entire 70's for Queen! It was a groundbreaking time for the band. The Bo Rap video is considered to be the first proper video to set the stage for what was to come, two anthemic songs that still to this day are worldly recognizable at any sporting event and is still played on the radio, opening up the South American market for other bands to follow, innovative lighting and stage shows not to mention the ambitious records that came out of that period. I feel after they achieved all they could in the 70's the 80's seemd like they just coasted through. Still they made great music but they were a different band by then. |

IMO, their creative pick was the 1974 to 1976 period, from Queen II to Races. |

My favorite era is 73 to 76, then almost as great 77 to 1980. 1973 to 1980 Queen were in their Prime. Albums wise, but if we're throwning in live performances and still creating new sounds i abmit the Hot soace Era is pretty cool. Especially live. |

My favourite era would be from 1973-'82, beginning with the first album and ending with Hot Space. The 70's albums and The Game were all classics, while HS was arguably among Queen's most enjoyable and most underrated albums. It was also arguably the last album (until The Miracle) in which it seemed to me that the group were taking risks. However, if that era is deemed to be too large, then I'll simply opt for 1974/'75; Queen II, SHA & ANATO. Heck, just SHA & ANATO. Those two albums represent IMO Queen at its most brilliant, Queen at its purest, Queen at its most creative and Queen at its most irresistable. I can find something to love about all of Queen's albums, but SHA & ANATO will forever be the two (Queen) albums which I can least do without. So, in terms of a major era, I would '73-'82, but in terms of a specific smaller era, I would pick November 1974-'75. |
