What is the most underrated Queen song? I'm not sure which I think is the most underrated cuz so many of them are underrated. In some ways I'd have to say either You Take My Breath Away, Don't Try So Hard, or The Prophet's Song. But it's so hard to say. What do you think? |

Underrated Queen songs? Well how do we name them for a start?? Theres soo many, I think Queen are the FEW bands with album songs as good as singles?? Can you imagine Queen themselves fighting over which they wanted as a single?? Like the Inneundo album is pure example, I wouldn of gone with Headlong, I woulda chosen I can't live with you or Ride the waild wind. Or even Don't try son hard. So really Queen had soo many songs to just like its crazy :) |

Tie Your Mother Down / You And I 7" UK - EMI 2593 4th March 1977 peak pos: #31, 4 wks on chart Long Away / You And I 7" USA - Elektra E45412 7th June 1977 did not chart (second or third releases from an album invariably don't do so well) It was the weakest track on ADATR. As was the case with most of 'Races', the 'son of' song was weaker. If I need to mention for the newbies, this was a 'son of' YMBF. Listening to it now, it is exquisite, so much more in depth than various tracks from 'Jazz' , and it kills most of what was on Hot Space and The Works. btw..........most 'UNDERRATED song'. Once again, ' Under Pressure'. Made it to #23 on the charts. So, it 'rated'. Has the word 'under' in the title. Then again, I agree, 'Stairway to Heaven' is Queen's most under rated song. oy |

'It's Late', 'You And I', 'Let Me Entertain You', 'Dead on Time', 'Mustapha', 'Jealousy'. 'You Take My Breath Away', & everything on ANATO besides Bo Rhap & 'You're My Best Friend' (which were hits) & 'Sweet Lady' (which sucks). |

I would say, without any doubt, In Only Seven Days. I consider it to be a masterpiece, John's greatest song, and Queen's best love song, but for some reason I don't think it gets the attention it deserves. After that I would select in no specific order Jesus (IMO one of the best songs from the first album with a great solo from Brian), Misfire (a terrific early song from John), Sleeping on the Sidewalk (featured arguably Brian's best lyrics, the entire Hot Space album (especially Staying Power), Friends Will Be Friends (Freddie was fantastic and Brian was brilliant), and much of Made In Heaven (in particularly Let Me Live as well as TMLWKY and Heaven for Everyone). |

Great King Rat and My Fairy Kind are certainly very underrated, but then the entire first album is pretty underrated. Other than Keep Yourself Alive, I don't think any of the songs get the attention they deserve. Especially Jesus. I love Jesus, but it seems to be underappreciated even among Queen fans. :D |

Alanasusan... and all others that listed White Man I wholeheartedly agree...I've always been a bit dismayed by the number of fans that don't like this song and even call it ADATR's weakest moment. Probably one of Freddie's best, howling rock vocals. Almost always included this song in mix-tapes i would make for people interested in hearing a good sampling of their "heavy rock" side. It absolutely thunders and rumbles in a very Zeppeliesque way(a compliment, indeed) with some of Rogers most powerful drumming. And the lyrics are some of the best Brian ever put down. Another underrated song that "shoulda been a single"........Ride The Wild Wind. Oh, and I have to throw in Mad The Swine, too! |

LOL...Bigfish...I won't stop you because it is such a great track! y'know, I think many of us love Queen for many different reasons...one aspect was their "heavy rock" side...sometimes it worked....sometimes it didn't come off quite as well(i.e."tear it up)...in the case of White man they were god-like. |
Bigfish 23.10.2010 15:25 |

Can't agree. It was overlooked at the time of its release, but grew to become one of their biggest anthems as years went by. It certainly is one of their most praised and popular songs now. Princes of the Universe got its recognition through the Highlander series and It's a Hard Life did well all over Europe, climbing to no. 6 in the UK. It may not be their most often played record now, but I don't think it's the kind of evergreen to have that sort of longevity. It's a fine tune, but the same could be probably said about many other songs, by other bands, that got even less attention... Love Of My Life also doesn't seem to fit well in here. Maybe it simply never was a "radio song"? It is always recognised and appreciated whenever played live, and I think it always was. I think it has a sort of Ave Maria popularity, if one can use such a comparison. |

Although TSMGO was coupled with BoRhap after Freddie's death, but I do know that it was mainly BoRhap that got the attention. Ahh, thank you PrimeJiveUSA! It certainly isn't in keeping with the general theme of ADATR, but I gained so much respect for Brian after hearing these lyrics and fell in love with Freddie even more. It has that awesome blues-ish, mystical metal sound to it that I didn't realize Queen was capable of. Just goes to show they could play any genre incomparably well. And I as well will not stop you BigFish, you are dead on. And thank you for reminding me of Stone Cold Crazy. My favorite song from Sheer Heart Attack and in my top five of all time. Oh, and I forgot to mention Ogre Battle. It always reminded me of the prequel (not lyrically, of course) to Bo Rhap. It's such a great song to rock out to in the car. |

Life is real. I love the song. I think it is underrated because it is on the Hot Space album. People copy eachother by telling how bad this album is even though it has some good stuff on it: Life is real, las parablas de amor, under pressure, put out the fire, calling all girls. in my opinion the weaker stuff on it is staying power, dancer and back chat. body language would fit better on the mr bad guy album. this song is too much Freddie. Also the albumcover is not very rockband-like. the cover of the Days of our Lives documentary would be a better Hot Space cover. |
matt z 01.05.2014 19:01 |
Cool Cat and the prophets song. Diametrically polar but they represent the band well. Although cool cat is deceptively sparse it has plotted elements and a unique atmosphere Prophets song is out of this atmosphere. .. right down to the part where it basically samples itself (reel to reel speed up as seen in the CLASSIC ALBUMS segment) Neither could have been written by anybody else. Freddie's falsetto and Brian's epic piece of musical programs rock opera. Just incredible |

There are a whole load of songs created by the genetically identical clone of the agent who was Freddie Mercury during his development in the late 1990s including: Mika - Grace Kelly The Darkness - I believe in a thing called love The Scissor Scissors - Mary The Killers - Human Graham |
dragonfly.trumpeter 61319 04.05.2014 15:33 |
If you want to know the real truth about the Scissor Sisters, well this is me holding two MI6 female spies over my toilet upside down, with their legs in two round circles. This is actually how the Scissor Sisters really came about in 1998. The video footage of the Scissor Sisters in 'water' during the Comfortable numb' video represents them being thrown into my toilet after cleaning up the mess. Anna Matronic is a parody on my true bionic back operation. Graham |
dragonfly.trumpeter 61319 04.05.2014 15:44 |
The biggest shocker of all is that the Empire State of Mind (New York) song is actually almost entirely from me at the age of 18, as clone of the agent who is Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson. The fact that this went over to the USA suggests that it is really America who has financed my education and development and not the UK. Graham |

Stelios Thanks for the message. When I was tortured in my teens I was actually singing about a girl I knew called Laura Henson. I assumed she was the heir to the muppet dynasty and she did in actual fact live down a private road which I could never access. The name Laura was converted over to Mary without my consent for the "Mary" single by the Scissor Sisters. I was actually being sarcastic in the song about Laura (officially the Mary track) and one of the opening lines was something like "Elton John's got ginger pubic hair, a little like a lions main, cross and wishing it was dead". I actually lived in a house share with the agent of Elton John for 6+ years in London, and this "bender" always wanted to give something back and knew he was in the wrong. Graham |

Stelios The above message implies I fucked the agent who is Elton John but this is utter bollocks. I hated Elton John in my teens, long before I had to share a house with him in London. I couldn't tell you if his pubic hair is ginger like a lions main or another colour. In my view Elton John is a perverted Mother Fucker, and I wouldn't spend one day living with this chirpy chappy, even in the best part of London like Mayfair, Belgravia, or Knightsbridge because in my view Elton is a turd burglar of a jerk.
