Hi Folks after just 2 weeks on the chart "Anthems" falls out of the top 100 Albums. What went wrong ?I bought the Album which i thought was quite good.Maybe the fact that there was no tour to support the Album went against it.Im sure that Brian thought that the Album was going to fly high.I hate to say this but Brian,s guitar bits sound really old and tired.
Sorry to say its the old adage that, outside of Queen and West End Musical fans, people simply dont know who Kerry Ellis is so therefore they wont buy or download her CD.
It is typical of the listening public nowadays that they pay attention to the image first before they listen to the end product (the music)
I took the time, first , to listen to the music before i ended up buying the cd.I happen to think its brilliant.Kelly's singing is superb.Especially in Dangerland,Anthem and Diamonds Are Forever to name but a few.Plus she's got, shall we say, some exellent back-up musicians.Namely Brian,Roger and Rufus.
I was being sarcastic. It was a joke. I was just bringing up her looks because that is all anyone has talked about so far on this site. But anyway, maybe they are satisfied with the results. It was a project and they completed it to their satisfaction. They had a good time with it. That's all that matters. She already had a career on the stage and now this will be something for her fans to also have.
She has a good voice but, for want if a better term, it's a 'theatrical' voice, not a rock voice. And from what I've heard of this album, it is naff -- as someone said, most of what Brian does these days is pretty lame. He really needs to hang out more with the Foo Fighters instead of animal rights activists and theatrical luvvies.
This album is so out of touch with what is going on in popular music at the moment, I don't only mean what is in the charts but music in general. This album is so dated it's unbeleivable and not just dated it is also bland and formulaic, it's westend music and should stay on the stage where it belongs.

You really have that impression? I think her voice and talent has been talked about a lot - far more than her appearance. That crazy Proms outfit did generate a little well earned fun, mind you. ;)
This might be the kind of album that is more tortoise than hare. The audience for this is not necessarily an audience that's going to rush out and buy it the first day. I hope it does reasonably well for Brian's sake, but at the same time, meh. It's not what I'm looking for from him, or anybody else for that matter.
Yeah, I'll side with what some people have said here - her voice is really something that should be enjoyed 'in context'. Maybe she should do a live album or something. (shrug) Just throwing out options here.
