I was browsing the sessionography of Queenpedia yesterday, and I came across some tracks I was not familar with: Nevermore (Electric Piano Version) Batteries Not Included Comming Soon (Early Version) Whipping Boy Man Made Paridise (Queen Version) There Must Be More To Life Than This (Queen Version) Love Kills (Queen Version) Creatures Of The Night Friends In Pain Africa By Night Freedom Train (Queen Version) My question is this; what is the status of these tracks? Are they tracks we know to exsist in the vaults, or just speculation? Are they 'out there' in the trading community? It would be nice to know a little more, but sadly Queenpedia has no further details. |

Sorry, I can't give any info on the above, but I am curious if there is any other material that would be considered on par (i.e breathtakingly good) with the recent BBC sessions that John released? What material is accurately known to be out there in other fans/collectors collections? |

Batteries Not Included is also the name of an old movie. Any connection to the movie ? |

The first was a poor degenerated copy of the BBC version, which at the incorrect pitch/speed sounded like an electric piano. Now that a superior version of the BBC track is available - this inferior version has been superceeded. The second was the result of an audio test Freddie took part in for the Andrew Llyode Webber musical Phantom of the Opera'. The mythology was that Freddie sang karaoke style to a pre-recorded backing track. While this story may in itself be true, there was no actual recording of the event. |

Thanks for you answer John. It is interesting how these stories get started... |

"Nevermore (Electric Piano Version)" as John said, it's fake. However, I can't remember it being the BBC version. I think it's the album version, but I have to check it when I'm home. It was a version where the tape seems damaged as it has an overall ' wobbly' sound. |

This info came from the same "kosher" source as a Freddie version of "Victory" and the Andy Gibb version of "Play The Game". Now, I do not think there is any evidence to support that these tracks actually exist, and have changed my opinion accordingly. Unless someone else knows better? |

Whilst i have no proof to the contrary of this, I find it strange that if Freddie was being 'screen tested' by Lloyd-Webber, surely any such performance would be recorded (and possibly in a very good pro studio situation if not by a hand held recorder) so that Lloyd Webber could check back the performance afterwards,or use it as a guide vocal for other performers? Do we know categorically that even if this is not in the QPL archives or hands of private Queen collectors, that this doesn't exist in the archives of Lloyd-Webber?? Cheers |

@ John S. Stuart: Am I right in deducing that you own a copy of the Andy Gibb-version of "Play The Game"? If so, could you tell me if the instrumental accompaniment is a) the same as b) much like c) rather different from the Queen-version? |

When I wrote this: "This info came from the same "kosher" source as a Freddie version of "Victory" and the Andy Gibb version of "Play The Game", I meant I personally do not think they exist at all. Unfortunately I do not own any of these tracks. I wish I did though! As I said above, I am almost completely sure that they are uban myths. Why QPL or the archivist can't answer this simple question, I don't know. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the Andy Gibb-version of "Play The Game" was mentioned by Brian originally, upon which rumours of a leaked recording started circulating? Of course, Brian and Roger can get things wrong the same as other people, but if I didn't mis-remember this, the fact that one of them mentioned it suggests that it may at least exist. Not that an Andy Gibb-vocal is something I've been waiting for, but the existence of different versions often allows insight into the creative process. |

It is amazing how many threads degenerate in to people having a go at each other. I was trying to stimulate a serious discussion on a subject that interests many Queen fans. It seems that these days threads eiether turn in to personsal insults or someone requesting Hangman. |
