There are only days before the WWRY birthday celebrations take place and the big questions will finally be answered… Which way will the wind blow? Will another one bite the dust? Will it be a kind of magic? Who will be the champions?
Not much longer to wait, only until next Monday, May 10, when once again on the night, as has been the case now for eight years, all the questions and more are answered by Ben Elton and Queen in their hit musical, We Will Rock You, which in a special performance celebrates its eight birthday on stage at the Dominion Theatre this coming Monday.
And, coming at the start to the show’s ninth year, the producers today announced the show is extending its present booking period through to April 2011, setting the musical on course to reach is 10th year. Tickets for the new booking period go on sale Monday 30th May.
The show also launches its new overhauled website next Monday with multiple added features and greater interactive capabilities, go to: link
Monday’s party mood will be heightened by the special appearance of show co-creators Brian May and Roger Taylor who will join the company on stage for the finale. In a year in which Queen have set aside any notion of touring, this will be a rare opportunity to see Brian and Roger back in action.
Monday’s performance is at 7:30pm and only a handful of tickets remain.
Monday’s show will also see further fund-raising for the Mercury Phoenix Trust, adopted by the show as its official charity. The Trust was set up in Freddie’s name and continues to support AIDS organisations throughout the world.
One supporter of the MPT is fully throwing herself into the cause: City worker Liz Swanton has pledged to be Freddie For A Day, to spend an entire day in the City dressed as Freddie Mercury. Having raised sponsorship pledges from her co-workers and City clients, Liz will go about her normal working day wearing Freddie Mercury’s trademark yellow jacket and white trousers with red and gold trim, and, yes, of course, the moustache.
Liz’s twenty-four hours as Freddie kicks off at the Dominion on Monday evening in the company of his former band-mates Brian May and Roger Taylor.
We Will Rock You is a Phil McIntyre Entertainment, Queen Theatrical Productions, Tribeca Theatrical Productions presentation.
