Did Queen members ever in person came on convention? I know they did video/audio recordings that were shown there, but i'd like to know if they came any time? So far there have been 25 conventions, each year one...
Nope, they'd be mobbed by some of the slightly more 'over-enthusiastic' over the fans. Anyone who has seen stuffed 'Roger' at the conventions will know what I mean ;)
That said, we behave with everyone else who comes, and Roger has played at some pretty small gigs that have the same amount of security as the convention, but heh - if I was them, I'd be scared too! Maybe for the 30th!
The Fan Club was selling a DVD of all the convention messages this year -I guess give Jacky a shout if you want one.
Although not 'conventions', Roger and Brian have in the past appeared at quite a few fan club organised events (although fewer and fewer these days) -
The Cross live at the Astoria 1990 with Brian guesting - Brian also came on halfway through the afternoon with his daughter and drew the raffle tickets!!
Roger flew in to the UK especially to introduce Made In Heaven album premiere at Hammersmith Odeon
Brian and John (plus Roger? I'm not sure as I missed this one) played a few tracks at a fan club part in Reading in about 88/89
I'm sure there are more examples, but the first two I remember as I was there!
I don't think so. I doubt George Takei gets roughed up (on purpose) at the Star Trek convention. There are things called "Security" and "Handlers" that could be used.
There is no appearance fee. THAT'S why they've never been to a convention. You can't blame the organizers, though. It's hardly in their budget.
You slap a $1,000,000 check in front of Brian or Roger, they'd be there. You could probably get John for $500,000.

The MiH thing was an utter waste of time. Would ten minutes Q&A really have cut into his day? He was there for about 20 seconds.... Mind you I thought the whole event was a missed opportunity.
The 1988 thing was actually a Christmas party in London - and yes, RT was there (The Cross were the main band, and they'd have been a bit lost without him).
There was a "Freddie Mercury Birthday Party" in Reading, in about 1999, for which Brian did turn up and play with the SAS band. There was much frenzied excitement about a "special guest" that'd flown in specially, Brian seemingly thrilled to have them here, etc etc.
Next to "anti-climax" in my dictionary, I have a photo of Jeff Scott Soto from this event.
Well, Brian did play and sing In The Lap Of The Gods if I'm not mistaken. Shame he doesn't do something like that anymore, instead prefering to just do TYMD, Hammer to Fall and WWRY/WATC for the 9 zillionth-time.
