I acquired the stems for this from,I think, a PS3 game, and thought I'd have a play. The stems aren't as 'clean' as some I have heard (not of Queen, but from the newish Dream Theater album), but I thought it might be interesting to try a fun instrumental version of, I have to admit, not one of my favourite tracks. It sounded a bit silly with long passages of just RT playing rim and hi-hat, so I've attempted to cut them out, to produce a more 'fluid' track. I used some of the backing guitar from the stem, to add some 'weight' to some of the solo guitar sections, and it's surprising, listening to the guitar track, how many edits and different tones there were in the original recording, as if it was recorded in bits, over a period of time. Anyway, see what you think - this is my first mix for about four years, so forgive me if I'm a bit rusty! I could do some alternative versions of this (with vocals?) if anybody requests.
I'd love to hear your mix Lord Fickle, but Rapdishare isn't working for me, can you upload it on megaupload or something like that, thanks in advance. ;)
Btw, can't find the multis anywhere, has anyone got a link to them, I would love to make a 5.1 surround mix of GTML!
Are it 24 tracks like in this video? link
Thanks emrabt.
I see that I've mixed up two song in my previous post (SCC and GDML)
But does anyone have a link to one of these multis? (for a 5.1surround mix)
The mix:
I like it, it's a fresh way of hearing the song, but personally I would have put the basedrum/kick harder into the mix (if it's possible).
But overall I like it, thanks Lord.
I Must agree with the posters above.
Just for the record, I think these stems come from the game 'Guitar Hero II' - but I am open for correction.
I generally do not like fan-mixes as by their very nature they have to detract from the original track.
However, you always seem to have a knack of adding something new and original to the table.
So very well done.
Thanks for your kind comments, guys. It's good to be back!

This is a great mix (and a mix it is!).
Come on my Lord, we want FLAC!!!!
Interestingly, it's a much brighter sound than mine....
Sorry, I have no means to save in FLAC format, and besides, they are much larger files to upload and download.
The 'brightness' was due to boosting the treble on the snare.

Hi Dan,
The bass drum isn't 'clean' on the stems, and it sounded a bit of a mess any higher in the mix, but I have added some double bass drums for you in the other mix.
