Do you think that Freddie had a bipolar disorder or manic depression? Or it was just ...welll just Freddies charisma, that made him look manic sometimes?. |
Gregsynth 15.01.2010 13:18 |
It was his charisma. |
Rubbersuit 15.01.2010 16:59 |
I've heard nothing about having depressive periods, so I'd say no. Alcoholic.. maybe. |

Interesting point. I wonder... And about the alcoholic thing, yeah. It amazes me how he kept his voice up for so long, especially during the latter stages of his career (and the BREATHTAKING Barcelona album!). I wonder if he EVER got hangovers?! Ha! |

The subject of this thread makes me think of a headline the Sun might use. To my knowledge, Freddie was never diagnosed with bipolar. |

The Flash Danny Project wrote: To my knowledge, Freddie was never diagnosed with bipolar. Which doesn't necessarily rule it out. Though, of course, him having some well-documented extreme periods doesn't guarantee he was bipolar either. IMO there's not enough data to be certain whether he was or wasn't. Only he would know, and those who were really close to him. |
LittleSilhouetto 16.01.2010 15:09 |
I don't think he had bipolar disease, but I do think he had a manic personality! There weren't enough depressive phases. That sort of personality seems to go hand-in-hand with great talent and creativity....and rock stars! He seemed to have too much mental energy for one mind and it spilled over. I would love to know what used to happen when he threw a tantrum! With a voice like his, most of Kensington must have heard him (If he was at home). |

I don't think that Freddie was bipolar, since I am not aware that he was ever really seriously depressed. His manic-type states were probably more likely the result of cocaine use. I also am not aware that Freddie was an alcoholic either, although he liked to drink and smoked cigarettes. He actually seemed quite psychologically stable. He was very promiscuous, but I am not sure that this is a sign of any kind of psychological issues. |

This might be duplicated cos I was half way thru a reply and pressed the wrong key by mistake. I don't drink alcohol and I've never touched cocaine, and I'm fairly quiet and reserved, HOWEVER, in the interests of scientific research, I am prepared to drink to excess and snort cocaine regularly, to test the theory that Freddie's manic personality was caused by drink and drugs. I will report back in one year. This could be very interesting.............. |

Call your physician without delay, and ask about treatment options. Good luck, and hang in there. Sorry. I mean don't let it get you down. Ahhh. I mean if nothing else, keep your chin up. Hi Guys, very late to the discussion. Check out Stephen Fry's emmy award winning documentary 'the secret life of a manic depressive' I think the jury is out on this one. Take note of the part where Fry talks about 'self medicating' drugs of choice being alcohol and cocaine... The high risks individuals take, incrediable god like charisma, highly risky sexual encounters. Freddie was not some teenager checking out what went where. I am aware that Freddie was never diagnosed however Freddie being extremely intelligent would have been all to aware to the dangers of unprotected sex by 1987... Im not saying Freddie was either way (bipolar)however there is a compelling case. We will never know for sure. |
plumrach 07.02.2012 12:07 |
Freddie was just a very creative man who probably craved love and wasnt bio polar (imo) and I would say its likely that by the time AIDS/HIV became known Freddie could well of already been infected and maybe knew this so therefore did not bother being careful |
Saint Jiub 07.02.2012 21:31 |
Being bipolar myself, I wondered somewhat about this years ago ... but there is no definitive evidence that Freddie was bipolar and this whole discussion is just wild conjecture. |
PHOENIXLMD 08.02.2012 09:21 |
Panchgani, Didn't mean to attack any sacred cows. Freddie is a god in my eyes. Having this health issue as-well I suggest you check out the Fry documentary. Having this condition for a while it still opened my eyes. Wild conjecture, maybe . Freddie did hide his HIV and homosexuality . Fry 'self medicated' as do most other Bi-polar folk with alcohol and cocaine... We can all agree that Freddie was a rock god however he was human too....... |

little high little low anyway the wind blows doesn't really matter to me............ Bohemian Rhapsody its structure its tempo... |

STELIOS wrote: Do you think that Freddie had a bipolar disorder or manic depression? Or it was just ...welll just Freddies charisma, that made him look manic sometimes?.Freddie had anxiety attacks. Sometimes they were so severe that one of the guys in Garden Lodge would have to restrain him. His over use of drink and drugs didn't help matters. |

freddie was in fact an alien. He was not from Zanzibar, he was a pod that landed on Earth with replicating strands that sought out the most capable life form in Jer and Bomi... it was this spore from the planet Mercury that created the man. He was also two people at once. Go check out the India Times article on November 21st 1991. You'll see what i mean... he was not bipolar. However, HE WAS gay... as his Element specifies on the periodic table = Hg (He's Gay) There's much more to this!! he left us clues!!! (::::cough cough::::) trolling, trolling... we could have fun just trolling... rockin, rollin.... oh yeah ah ah.. |
