What i ask is, if Queen had their own Glastonbury/Isle Of Wight/Woodstock shindig, who do you think they would choose as performers. I personally have no idea, besides Queen, who would play. Maybe the Beatles if they were still around as Brian has said that he thinks there's noone better. |
John Oswald 11.08.2009 13:05 |
Erm..Maybe Jimi Hendrix if he was still around ? |
lalaalalaa 11.08.2009 13:10 |
Probably Queen's influences and people who were influenced by Queen ;) so probably: Metallica Jimi Hendrix The Beatles Iron Maiden Led Zeppelin Elvis stuff like that. |

That is a perfect list of acts! Add the Stones (Brian Jones-era) and it would be awesome! Im not so sure, even though im a HUGE Maiden and Metallica fan, other than Brian, im not so sure that the others are very big metal fans. I know Roger likes prog rock so I think RUSH would be a great choice as well. |
John Oswald 11.08.2009 14:01 |
How abouts Elvis if he were alive ? I only suggest that cos they did Crazy Little Thing Called Love in basically a Elvis type way. Just a suggestion lol |

The Cross. Plain and simple, should be at the show too. Foo Fighters as well since they are such huge Queen fans and "Queen", as Brian and Roger call themselves, have such a good relationship with them. Brian is even on one of the songs on their 2003 album One By One. I saw the Foo's in January of '08 and it exceeded my expectations in every way. Great band. Very good ticket prices IMHO. |

My thoughts: The Beatles The Who Led Zeppelin Mott The Hoople David Bowie Pink Floyd Jimmy Hendrix Metallica Aerosmith Freddie would invite Culture Club, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Aretha Franklin, Montserrat Caballe:) Brian: Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Guns'n'Roses, Extreme, Status Quo, Black Sabbath, Van Halen... Who would invite Bad Copmany?[/img] |

Yeah! Have you heard the Brian Jones-era stones? Total blues-rock. Great stuff. Listen to their UK album Out Of Our Heads. Good stuff, Good Stuff. Most people only know the Mick Taylor stuff or Miss You, Beast Of Burden or Start Me Up. Damn shame. Pre-Beggar's Banquet Stones are a different band to the more commonly known material of theirs from the 1970's. The Last Time is a great song of theirs from 1965. Check It out! |

I'd certainly throw Def Leppard into the mix too. Clearly inspired by Queen and Joe's good friends with Mr. May. |

Queen On Ice 11.08.2009 15:24 |
If we are talking artists that the boys from Queen would like (including dead ones if they were not dead), then we can also include some of these?: Hank Marvin/ Shadows Thin Lizzy David Bowie Liza Minelli .. (shudder) Jeff Beck Cozy Powell Rainbow Eric Clapton Status Quo . .A possibly endless list I would say. Would make for one heck of a festival though - and Freddie would still steal the show of course ;) |

In response to sexmachine: I love the Taylor era as well and I think that Mick T actually probably made the most influential addition to the Stones in there entire canon of work (Look at Exile, Sticky Fingers and 1973 Euro Tour boots) but the Brian Jones era was a different style that I think might have influenced Queen as they were part of the British Invasion w/ The Beatles, Gerry/Pacemakers etc. |

Kick ass song. |

In addition to those mentioned (esp Bowie, Elton, Foo Fighters, Guns N Roses, Cozy Powell, and others). Annie Lennox might be there. Wouldn't it be great if Bad News would be there? But I don't know if Roger likes them. Maybe Pink? |

Totally. Free or Bad Co. should do sets and Black Sabbath would be great. |
dragon-fly 11.08.2009 19:10 |
And I guess Roger would invite Bob Dylan |

Yes!!! I knew I was forgetting somebody!!! HUGE Zimmerman fan over here! Listen to his albums Infidels and Desire. True pieces of musical art! Scarlet Riviera plays a mean violin/fiddle! |

Sorry. This is about Queen and not mister Bobby doing his 1 hour shows at Wembley this year. |
TerrorOfKnowing 12.08.2009 01:14 |
If Queen actually had a festival, the mixture would be so eclectic I can't even begin to think of what it could be. For the rock end we could have acts like Foo Fighters, Def Leppard, Chickenfoot (I seem to remember Brian mentioning them on his blog). And then for the pop end or "Freddie's end" if you like we could see people like Katy Perry & Mika, and I couldn't imagine Kerry Ellis not being there. Top it all off with a one off Queen + Paul Rodgers gig. Imagine some of the crossovers that could occur at a festival like this, not just a bunch of Queen covers but artists with a shared idol coming together and mixing styles like Queen always used to do. Unfortunately, I don't think this is a route QPL will ever end up doing, but if they did it would surely be fantastic. |
DragonOnMyBack 12.08.2009 04:43 |
I guess if you are looking for a list of artists they would invite you probbaly only need to look at the FM Tribute Concert with a few additions like Foo Fighters and some of the more current acts from the various 46664 concerts etc. |
dragon-fly 12.08.2009 04:47 |
You don't like Bob Dylan? It's up to you. But I remember reading Roger's interwiev where he mentiones Bob Dylan (in very positive way). So it could be possible... |
Lookin' Divine In Good Ol' '89 12.08.2009 08:26 |
At the end, it would be amazing if everyone came out on stage and did a few not well-known Queen songs together as a giant group. I see fireworks! |

Roger has also covered Dylan (Masters of War - Strange Frontier album) So he must have SOME respect for the dude. Wow, i don't kow why,. but there is a nagging feeling in my head that he has covered Dylan twice, but I cannot find the second example (if there is one). |

I guess in an ideal world, you'd probably have 4 stages set up, with Brian, Freddie, John and Roger all having a stage each to invite whom they want. As someone has mentioned looking at those who appeared at the tribute show, I'd also suggest looking at who Brian invited to the Guitar Hero's night for an indication as to whom he'd invite. Perhaps what would be good is that on the final day of the festival, all bands finish at say 3pm, on one of the alternate stages, a full performance of We Will Rock You to take place before Queen themselves come on stage and close the event.... Could we ask for anything more? |
Lookin' Divine In Good Ol' '89 12.08.2009 23:05 |
Yes. We Could ask for The FIrm to re-unite and for The Cross to perform. That would be worth going to see! |
