Im interested, does anyone know how the album has done sales wise, and how the live shows sold?? Do they sell out everywhere they play. I never saw them tour with cosmos, how did the new tracks go down?
The album has sold 416.500 copies according to worldwidealbums.net
Not all the gigs of the tour were sold out as a consequence of the lack of promotion, I would say; but still many others were sold out and really hot !
Cosmos Rockin', We Believe, Voodoo, C-lebrity, Say It's Not True and Surf's Up worked very well live, imho. Specially the later as opener to many gigs.
They didn't succeed with Time To Shine and Warboys (little rehearsal?) the couple of times they tried.
It's a pitty they didn't try the rest of the album songs, although rehearsed in soundchecks prior to the gigs
I wouldn't call it an"embarrasing failure", what did the critics expected?another ANATO?it's not a great album but they would have to take into account that is a new line-up,there's no Freddie and it's not the "conventional" Queen.
I said it before and I say it again - if I had a band, I would pray to "fail" that much that our album sells only half a million of records without ANY promotion
thanks everyone.416.500 copies may be a huge amount but the question is, is it enough for them??
queen have always always been slagged off in the press, every album the music papers have always taken pop shots at them. but i think the difference is this time is that in the last few years theyve become respected by the music press. it seems everybody loves queen these days. To complete this album though and get such a negative reaction must be very tiresome indeed. Im assuming though that they dont particularly care one iota
Don't take the music press at it's word, whatever you do... it's full of insincere, musically inept prats who will (at the drop of a hat) insert any old phrase or borrowed gag into their work. How many times have I read about the "poodle perm"? Is that good music journalism, or did I accidentally pick up a copy of Cosmo?
NME, Rolling Stone, you name 'em... they aren't worth wiping your arse with. They rarely, if ever, get it right. They're institutions that have based themselves on writing trash and then, when it's deemed appropriate, acting nice. Bollocks to them all.
