Date : 20. September 1984
Venue : Groenordhal, Leiden, The Netherlands
As requested, this is a mix of 2 recordings of Leiden 84.
Both recordings have been shared here before but it looks like this final mix wasn't, so here you are.
For more information and photos check this site : QueenLive.ca .
Disc 1 :
Lineage : AUD > Master > 2nd Generation Tape > WAV > CDR (x) > WAV > FLAC frontend (level 8)
Taken from the readme file: This is one of the best shows of the Works tour. As usual in Holland, the audience are a very enthusiastic bunch. Freddie's voice is in pretty good shape, although he's at the point in the tour where he can't nail the beginning of It's A Hard Life anymore. A new better-sounding source (cutting in at Is This The World We Created) was recently shared at Queenzone, so what I have uploaded here is only the first 43 minutes of the show. I was sure to fade it out at the exact point that the second source begins, so nothing is missing. Machines (tape) Tear It Up Tie Your Mother Down Under Pressure Somebody To Love Killer Queen Seven Seas Of Rhye Keep Yourself Alive Liar Vocal improv It's A Hard Life Mustapha (intro) Dragon Attack Now I'm Here Distribute these files only if they are left completely unaltered. As always with my shares, be sure that this recording is not made available at Queenzone or elsewhere in mp3 or any other lossy format. Keep lossless files lossless. Enjoy! Sir GHDisc 2 : Lineage : AUD > Sony Walkman (w/ stereo mic) > Master Cassette > Reel To Reel Tape > Mini Disc (w/ EQ) > WAV (re-tracked in Nero) > CDR (0) > WAV > FLAC level 8 Taken from the readme file: Original notes by Nordico for Part II of this show: Queen Groenoordhal Leiden Holland 20-09-1984 This is a 1st generation copy of the master cassette and I dont think it has been shared here before. The good news is that the sound is very good+. The Bad news is that the concert is incomplete. For some obvious reasons the bootleger only taped the second part of the show...what a shame!! I have also the first part, but in a bad quality, so hopefully someone can provide the first part of the show in good quality to complete the concert??? The rarity of this concert is that Queen played an impromptu of '39... and as you can hear the dutch crowd went crazy!! Enjoy The Show!! Tracklist: Is This The World We Created? '39 Love Of My Life Stone Cold Crazy Great King Rat Keyboard Solo Brighton Rock Another On Bites The Dust Hammer To Fall Crazy Little Thing Called Love Bohemian Rhapsody Radio Ga Ga I Want To Break Free Jailhouse Rock We Will Rock You We Are The Champions God Save The Queen Comments from the original sharer After leaving home and picking up a friend we went to Leiden to see the Queen show (for the second time) at the Groenoordhal. When we did pass Schiphol (airport of Amsterdam) we suddenly saw 2 big black limousines and of course what you guess is right the Queen Boys where in there...so we did follow them till Leiden. Maybe that's the reason why my friend was so confused that he did forgot to start his Sony Walkman with build in Stereo Mic. So halfway the concert he noticed his mistake... I am not sure anymore if it's on this shared source, but in the beginning of the orginal source you can hear me say "Ja wel" which is Dutch for "but yes" because we did have a little discussion about the fact that he was quilty of not starting the recording. By the way we were on the right side from the stage (about 100m). Anyway afterwards I did made a copy of the orginal Cassette (TDK SA or Maxell XL II) to a Reel To Reel Tape Deck (on Maxell tapes). In 2000 I did transfer this recording to a Sony Minidisc with some equalisation, and then into .wav files on PC (used Nero wave editor, probably again with some equalisation, but I am not sure anymore) and with Nero Burn finally to CD-R. Of course for sharing ripped the CD-r back to .wav files with audio grabber and transfered them into FLAC 8.0 files. Indeed after all this year the sound is still great and brings back a lot of memory's and probably it was one of the best concert of The Works Tour. In 1986 the same taper with the same equipment did record the show of the 11th of June (this time the complete concert). I have this source on CD-r, but the sound isn't as clear as the 1984 concert, and there are much better versions around here on Queenzone. Hopefully this gives more clarity to everbody about the source and story behind this recording... Download links : link link link link link link link link Enjoy. Please don't convert to mp3 |

Thank you very much pittrek! I didn't have this. Only a question by a little fan: Is it sure that first part weren't taped by that better source? |

My notes show the lineage as Master Cass. > Reel > MD > CD. I think the person who up'ed this here got a reel copy of the master from the taper. But I might confuse this with another show. |

But I might confuse this with another show. Indeed, you're right. I just found the thread on QZ where he tells his story. Here's what he wrote, late last year: link Master Cassette > Reel To Reel Tape > Mini Disc > Wav File > CD-R > Wav File > Flac 8.0 However, about a year before that, he emailed me a story, from which I pieced together a slightly different lineage: Sony Walkman (w/ stereo mic) > Master Cassette > Sony Minidisc (w/ EQ) > CDR (0) > WAV (re-tracked in Nero) > CDR (0) > WAV > FLAC level 8 But there was a bit of a misinterpretation in there on my part, as the first CDR is a copy his friend made, but not the one that was shared. So, tossing that bit out, and combining the two lineages together, here's what we get: Sony Walkman (w/ stereo mic) > Master Cassette > Reel To Reel Tape > Mini Disc (w/ EQ) > WAV (re-tracked in Nero) > CDR (0) > WAV > FLAC level 8 |

>Are you sure it was the taper ? Why would he share a 1st gen copy and talk about himself in 3rd person ? It turns out he was talking in the third person because it was his friend whom he was with who taped it. And he forgot to press record at the beginning of the show, which is why the first half is missing. |

This sounds pretty damn good considering it was taped without external mic. |
