Has anyone heard of this guy? Normally I hate American Idol and never watch it but I'm keeping a lookout on this guy. He's the best singer I've heard in a long while and he's a rocker(rare on American Idol). He sounds to me like the love child of Freddie and Robert Plant.
Listen to his awesome rendition of "Ring of Fire". link
He also did a great version of Michael Jackson's "Black or White" but I can't find a working link.
Anyway this guy is really great. He's gay too, just like Freddie Mercury. You can find a video of him performing an original sang called "Crawl Thru The Fire", dressed up in glam like Freddie. The song sounds very 70's. This guy could go very far. Queen should collaborate with him some time in the future.
Also, many say he's a "hit or miss" singer. People who love him enthusiastically do so but people who hate him, hate him vehemently.
Yeah, I heard that people who have heard the original Johnny Cash version will hate it. I personally hadn't heard it before and when I checked out Johnny Cash's version, I didn't like it(can't stand Country).
People are always raving about Johnny Cash's version of NIN's "Hurt" but I prefer the original. Different strokes for different folks!

I just heard this alternate version last night (and it's even better, I think).

Just checked it out...I like the Idol version more because this one sounds very restrained.
