There's very interesting advertisment in Record Collector about limited edition (2500 copies) of book "Killer Queen". According to that, it is about early years of the band with comments by Brian May, Mary Austin and Mick Rock. It features by rare fotos and it is signed! On genesis-publications.com it costs 255£.Which is not a few. But I haven't found anything about it neither on queenonline.com nor brianmay.com. Does anybody know something more about this? Do you think it's worth buying? |

It is a fantastic book that came out in 2002 and is now being promoted again. It is very lavish and very heavy and very well made with the overall production of it as brilliant. It also comes in an outer slip case. Initial copies were signed by Mick, BM and RT and now just signed by BM and Mick. It is well worth getting but if you can't afford the rather high price you can opt for the £20 hardback book edition called 'Classic Queen' by Omnibus Press. It is still a great book but has less photos obviously. If you like the early days then this is a superb document of Queen in their formative years. |

I must say, it is worth buying very luxury ...but if you are only interested in the pictures, there's a "normal" edition called Classic Queen. You can find more information on www.mickrock.com |

Lucky for me I had a spare £300 Christmas 2004 so I bouhgt a signed copy. It's a great book BUT I was very disappointed by the different types of paper that the pages were made up from. It's a mixture between "home-made" paper, tracing paper, gloss paper, plastic sheeting and silvered paper. Rather annoyingly, some of the best (rare) photos are printed on the weird papers which degrades the quality of the image somewhat, especially on the silver papers. The £20 version is a good taster, but maybe only contains a quarter of the pictures that are in the big one. Buy the big one by all means BUT you do really need to have nothing better to spend £250 on! |

Thank you folks! You gave me even more enthusiasm about this book. Now I know what to do! That would be great! That would be the biggest sum that I spent on Queen by one shopping... |

Got my BM/RT/Mick Rock signed copy in april 2004 for the hefty price of 271 euros I believe. I'd recommend it to everyone who has the money and can spend it on a book :) |

Yikes. Way out of my budget. And just think...all those goats gave their lives for Queen. Do you think Brian knows? [/img] |

[/img] I don't know how about you, but I haven't started to save on my funeral yet. So I'm going to have some fun. My life doesn't belong to Queen, it's just Queen is present in my life. I answer by question: do you really think it can be possible for Brian to know about everybody who buys something connected with him? |

And when I was referring to goats giving their lives for Queen, I mean the fact that goatskin leather was used for the book's binding. (Read the item description). I just thought...Brian's being into animal rights, and all that...ya know? |

I have the cheap version. Maybe one day I'll splurg and get Killer Queen, but I doubt it. |

Brian must not have known about it. |

Yeah, there's little misunderstanding about goats:). But as I know goats are not rare animals (if you don't mean wild ones). If people breed tham on the farms and use their meat, so why not a skin also? But it's more up to Green Peace... So can't say much about... And I think Brian is not that much involved into that, he's a musician most of all, and a doctor of astronomy as you know... |
beautifulsoup 03.02.2009 13:21 |
wow...the edit feature is really wacked. Never mind, I guess I'll try again in the next post. |

Please notice that I had put this emoticon in my original post: [/img] , indicating an attempt at humor/irony. That seems to have been missed, as well. Apparently it was a lame attempt; I failed. I give up! |

I don't know how involved Brian is, but he obvioulsy cares. At least for a pair of things I've read in his soapbox, he clearly does. |

Can't believe that it went so far... People I don't support killing animals, but I can't stop it either. As anyone of you, as Brian. We have our opinions, but... Please, let's close this subject about animals. I don't think that queenzone.com is a right place for it |

Canadian sealing regulations: "Every person who strikes a seal with a club or hakapik shall strike the seal on the forehead until its skull has been crushed," and that "No person shall commence to skin or bleed a seal until the seal is dead," which occurs when it "has a glassy-eyed, staring appearance and exhibits no blinking reflex when its eye is touched while it is in a relaxed condition." By the way, everyone have a good lunch. |
