I've heard rumors and contradicting "facts" - now I turn to you. On which Bad News tracks does Brian appear as a musician, if any? In particular, is it himplaying the solo on Bo Rhap and the riff from Keep Yourself Alive on Bad News?
I think he does play the bo rhap solo, he plays on the album tracks 'Drink Til I Die', 'Bad News', and the bo rhap single b side called 'Life With Brian'. There could be more but that's what I rember without referring to the CD

On the Bad News album Brian only plays the 'Brighton Rock'-esque riff in the part that also has Jimmy Page's Whole Lotta Love riff and solo.
All of the album was produced by Brian, but he does NOT play the solo in Bo Rhap!!
Not doubting you, but I remember an interview with Brian sometime after the album came out where he said that he found playing the Bo Rhap solo so hard because it was like 'sacrilege'! Admittedly he could have been talking just about hearing it, and I must say that it definitely isn't the red special being used. Does anyone else remember this interview?
I agree, as I previously stated, that Brian does play an small part of Brighton Rock during the Jimmy Page hommage on 'Bad News'.
He definitely plays on 'Drink Til I Die' though - just listen to it! :)
I was fortunate to see Brian May play live with Bad News at the Hammersmith Odeon on the last day of the Bad News tour. Brian played the Brighton rock intro at the back of the stage and the audience couldn't believe Bad News could play that well and then he appeared in a cloud of smoke. Brian also played Twist and Shout live with them, it was all great fun. Awkwardly and ironically there's a Bad News release called bootleg which I have which had a track on it called "Aids" where they joked ''Brian's got Aids', fortunately it vanished into obscurity though I have it on original cassette. Luckily, I got to meet Brian after the Bad News show, he was really cool with the fans. : )
I think that he played more then a couple of things on the album, I've read somewhere that he indeed played on Bo Rap but that he just couldn't play the solo wrong so he put the strings upside down on his guitar and played it then again. You can hear his trademark on Drink till I die and the song Bad News (it wouldn't suprise me if he also played the Jimmy Page part as well). I think he is als on the song Warriors of Ghengis Khan and Life with Brian. The only song he don;t play on I think is Hey Hey Bad News and Pretty Woman. I have my doubts about ashing in on Cristmas

Dude... that Whole Lotta Love piece is lifted STRAIGHT and unaltered from Led Zeppelin's original studio recording!!
Well shouldn"t they mentioned it somewhere in the credits because this is more then a sample? So they had to credit Led Zep, but they didn't. Just playing the excact kind of part free you from that is my believe..
