Don't know if this has been posted, but I hear that Roger's son Rufus is playing the drums along with Brian and Neil Murray (plus others) backing Kerry Ellis on the Royal Variety Performance next week.
Brian's site simply states that they have a phenomenal 17 year old drummer, and I have heard that it will be Rufus. Good for him I say!!
Hey-
Where did you hear that it would be Rufus? That would be great. Would love to see him play. For awhile there was a home video floating around on the internet of Rufus playing the drums. I personally didn't see it, but friends of mine did and said he was pretty good. Must take after dear old dad!
I'd have one of the Ludwig kits - probably the '77/78 era one, or one of the later ones from 89-92 - lovely!!!
I wonder how long it will take for a thread to start with someone calling for John's son (I'm sure I read somewhere that he plays in a band and is very good?) and Roger son to become 'Queen Mk II' !!!!
Well, now the performance has been aired, I can say that Rufus is very good! Nothing technically spectacular on that song, but his playing is very fluid, and on a difficult 'show tune' (a few amounts of stopping, starting etc..), his tempo and feel were great.
When you consider that he is only 17, and this is his first (that I know of) high profile gig, it's a damn fine effort - an almost backhanded compliment is that he didn't stand out at all! By which I mean it could have been any session or established band musician playing on that and no-one would have noticed.
I hope if the music industry is where he wants to make a name for himself I hope that he succeeds.
Its on youtube now.
Very good performance by all concerned. Kerry Ellis has one hell of a set of lungs! [/img]

Yeah, that is a damn fine effort indeed! Takes guts to perform your first big gig in front of such a high-profile audience.
Didn't Rufus have a short drum solo during the Melbourne WWRY Afterparty show a few years back though? (if QueenConcerts.com is correct)
And he is a handsome young man. Definitely has his father's good looks.
Let's hope he doesn't stay out of the picture too long after this :-)
Now perhaps if he joined forces with his brother Felix and their father, I think they could make a good album together :-)
Anyone else think the same?
