In the latest issue of Guitarist magazine (issue 309, November 08), Brian says that they have rehearsed LONG AWAY and TENEMENT FUNSTER!
"We're trying not to surprise ourselves too much", he laughs. "But we'll be gradually working in some of the new album. We have actually rehearsed a couple of in-depth Queen songs - not the singles in other words - in response to a request from (Foo Fighters drummer) Taylor Hawkins. So we've rehearsed Long Away and Tenement Funster. We won't be doing them in Latvia and so on, however, as we figured we'd like to do familiar stuff there.
"We've actually rehearsed almost everything off the album, which is unusual, as for most Queen albums we used to rehearse just three or four songs, but we've tried just about everything. It all seems to work too, which is great, but we could of ended up with a three-hour set".
Great stuff - Lets hope that these gems will be aired when they come back to the UK then.
So hundreds, if not thousands, of true Queen fans make pleas, reasonable arguments, sound requests etc..for some classic album tracks to be played and this falls on deaf ears. Taylor Hawkins on the other hand just needs to ask and they respond immediately! I can imagine the conversations of the last few years;
TH: "Brian, can I play some drums on your solo album?"
BM: "Yeah, sure"
TH: "Brian, will you play some guitar on the next Foo Fighters album?"
BM: "Yeah, sure"
TH" Brian, can I sing backing vocals on your new single with Paul Rodgers?"
BM: "Yeah, sure"
TH: "Brian, will you play some classic songs instead of the same tired old set you've been peddling out everytime you play live for the last few years?"
BM: "Yeah, sure"
