The final part of the BBC series is on tonight. I have caught some of this but seen no mention/interview with Brian. Has anyone seen him on this.
Tonight's liner says "Alan Yentob ends his series with a roll-call of rock gods - specifically, who they are and how they manage to make the noise they do, all illustrated with an amazing assortment of footage. Everyone, but everyone, is here. The Beatles, the Stones and the Who. Cream, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. The dark lot -Black Sabbath, Metallica and Guns n' Roses.................no mention of Brian or Queen!!

it's sad to say, but people Just arn't overly impressed with brian. In america brian is considered a very good guitarist, but not much more. That's probably why the die hard brian may fans on this site get Jealous of the attention freddie gets.

Its not a bad thing, the last two shows have been mind numbingly boring. Never let a man with a beard do a documentary about rock.
Well, apart from Marti DiBergi.
Thats just it - the show is not about rock. Its all about the guitar itself.
I can't understand how he isn't there, both from a playing point of view (unique sound), and also considering the series is about the guitar as a machine as well the players, Brian's homemade guitar was technically years ahead in some ways of thngs like the Strat which had masses of attention paid to it in the second episode.

I know, they tricked me by showing loads of famous rock guitarists doing their trademark stuff in the advert and then showed a load of re-enactments of Olde Worlde people messing about with lutes and such like.
The second episode was more interesting, the birth of the blues etc, but Yentob just makes the subject as boring as possible.
Oh well, Brian was mentioned briefly in the last episode but I guess he wasn't featured more because they couldn't interview him.
Another poor episode and thankfully the end of a series which lacked cohesion and direction in what it was trying to achieve.
Personally, I thought it took on too large a subject to cover in 3 episodes and the overall approach seemed selective and broad brush. They would have been better just devoting the 3 episodes to the electric guitar from the 50's onwards.
And getting someone more interesting and engaging than Alan fucking Yentob.
Sorry, it sounds like I don't particularly like him!
What a shame... I watched what I could and Brian was shown playing the BoRhap solo and then...nothing. It stopped there??? Like others say, and I totally agree, they could've spent a good portion of time showing Brian's guitar and explored how it came to be as a very inspirational design of electric guitar. Especially for the time when there were features on it that wouldn't be fully explored until many, many years later by guitar manufacturers.
They could've constructed a short 3-to-5 minute segment showing pictures (with permission) from guitarist 1998 where you can see the guitar in bits, the video of Brian and his Dad with the guitar, gig clips (of course), Brian's appearance on various shows talking about where the guitar came from (knitting needle, motorcycle springs, etc. etc.) and the 2000+ (year) copies that were made of this famous guitar.
I put in that last part about the copies because I see Gilmour got to plug his guitar copy on the show. Brian didn't need to be interviewed to be present in the show - not at all! They merely needed to do a quick bit of research and contact QP for the usual clip usage I've highlighted above. *Sigh*
I did like the first episode in the series and I didn't really mind Yentob. He's alright. But yeah, woefully explored subject. What a *ahem* missed opp- ALRIGHT, I won't go there!! lol Anyway, a true shame...
I rather enjoyed the series, I have to say the third part was a little pointless, as nothing really new was discussed, but I felt it was above most of the pap that fills our screens these days...
I suspect Brian was locked in the studio when it was recorded, I am sure they would have asked him to take part, he is fairly well known to the BBC production teams when it comes to doing interviews.
However I always enjoy Gilmore, such an understated guy that just makes a guitar sing
Yes, another "Lost Opportunity". Seriously good points watching how The Edge uses a Wah Wah peddle and Johnny Marr jangles a few chords to create a riff were interesting, but I agree that the Red Special was certainly a topic which could have and should have been included, with perhaps Brian giving a quick demo of the Queen Geeeetar sound. Throw in the Deacy amp and you have a highly interesting piece of inclusion.
Perhaps to be fair to Yentob Brian was unavailable. If not, then a P45 is due to the BBC researcher who did the leg work on this one.
It was clear in this (let's face it most of, if not all featured in detail (Hendrix although UK based) were British) that Brian should have been included in a bit more detail.
