Which concerts are better: the current ones of the 2008 tour or the concert in Sheffield in 2005? I've bought a dvd and I loved the concert in Sheffield sooooo much that now I am not so sure the current ones are better. Maybe because the Sheffields audience was so enthusiastic?
I wasn't there, but from what I understand the enthusiasm in sheffield was created in the mix.....
having seen both tours I struggle to answer the question. in 2005 they were more rough in the edges, this time around they seemed more like a real band. so the jury is out :)
You should buy Super live in japan... and you will find yourself throwing ROTC to the garbage can heheheh..........ok!! not that much, but Super live kick asses!!
We all love the 2005/6 tour, but you can tell this one is better, even the first show (Ukreine) was excelent*****... and in the first tour, the first 5 or 6 shows were a disaster.
Unfortunately i saw the 2005 live tour only in dvd, but 3 weeks ago i went to Queen concert in Milan and i can just say that it was fantastic. I prefered most the last one i think..
But both the tour were gorgeous..they are still great!
I think the return of Queen to touring in 2005 brought a heightened expectancy, emotion, and it was unknown what the set would be, how PR would be etc... The Brixton show will always be one of my favourites, not necessarily because of the playing, but the relevance of the occasion.
I have only seen one show live on this tour, but as a unit they are far more cohesive, together, and playing and coming across as a band. The catwalk is a great surprise addition to the production too.
The 2005 tour setlist was great really, purely because we would have taken anything at all! This time round it is disapointing with no real changes apart from the new album tracks. Crowd wise, we have got over the initial exceitement of 2005 and therefore I think expect more.
I think 'which is better?' depends purely on whether we are talking from a purely musical point of view, or also crowd reaction, setlist etc..
This year they're significantly better than in 2005. The only "worse" thing is apparently the audience. For example in Rotterdam, Milan or Rome the people were much less enthusiastic than in 2005.
The Sheffield concert in 2005 was absolutely fantastic! I was there on the front row next to the John Deacon appreciation society and the atmosphere was wicked. It is a shame that no one brought banners or flags for the concert to add to the atmosphere but nevertheless it was great. Went to Nottingham a couple of weeks ago and got to the front of the catwalk again. That too was an amazing concert and I loved the new stuff of the album....even got a wink from Mr Rodgers for singing all the words to C-Lebrity!! hahahah. They are both joint first place in my gog experiences!
They played Under Pressure in Sheffield but this never made it to the DVD, is it something to do with royalties??

Maybe Vanilla Ice was not found in due time [/img]
The tour from 2005 was with more enthusiastic fans, because everybody was happy to see Queen live again. Now most of the fans know what to expect, and therefore are not over-enthusiastic. But since this will be your first tour it is just a "must" to go to it.

Having seen Cardiff 2005 & 2008, 2008 was a much better gig!! Air of expectancy in 2005 was obviously greater as first tour since 1986 but the 2008 show was more polished and the crowd were better this time around. Much more relaxed this time around.
I saw them in Manchester in 2005 and then again in Glasgow in 2008 and I personally preferred the 2008 show. I thought Paul Rodgers produced a more polished display and I also very much enjoyed hearing the new songs from TCR [/img]
