I knew Janet E. Morris (google that name exact) "Janet E. Morris" and you will find she is a pro accomplished author now making sniper tracking and nuke bomb tracking too. Try link when you are done reading this.
I once approached her writing partner, C. J. Cherryh about a story, I knew nothing of her works, but thought the story line was good. I share it with you.
A boy and girl meet in their ages of 3 and 4 at a car accident scene. A boy with a near concussion sees his life past present and future all in signs, almost like commercials but is actually standing in a liquor store as his mom lies on the counter with broken ribs. Forever since then he is reminded of that night, eventually marrying the girl at the age of 21, she 22. Always remembering about the good, bad and ugly as well as beautiful for it's as if it's already lived.
It becomes a race against bad psychiatry to save the USA from a terrible tragedy, one uniquely played out as "The 40 Minute War", (a real sci fi fantasy thriller by Janet Morris) but also known as September 11, 2001. It entangles Mrs. Morris and her husband for their niece, is married to the man. The same man of whom had a website visited by the same terrorists that attacked the USA, 091101, one week prior to the attack.
In National Guard training, 1986, the boy, now a man, sees his future wife and family at Ft. Dix but nobody else sees them as he spoke of the terrible events. Somehow, the messege is askew and the world is as it is. The first time around it was jet attacks, according to the 1984 book, "The 40 Minute War", the 2nd time around, the man, now divorced must get around bad psychiatry, a near criminal past and a tremendous guilt to save the USA from a nuclear attack but he is only a lowly civilian and the new cover of "The 40 Minute War", from late 1984 shows a nuke bomb over the DC capital. The major hurdle is not that the book is fiction, it's that the man and as far as he knows, his ex-wife and anyone that read the book knows that since it got Mrs. Morris involved with the CIA, enemies tread far from him and he can't leave the country but must stay in his home state. It is also that the man knows the book without reading it, for he helped write the synopsis for it as a child and as a teen. Write is not the correct word for it, it's more like a "in home conversation" between a teen and an adult author. The book covers can be seen at link or link or just link (a new search engine destined to take off like Google.Com)
It's a true story so far, I suppose it's what is meant by life flashing before ones eyes. LOL.

PS, how did my now ex wife know I wanted to be a battleship admiral when I was a toddler, as told to her in view of accident victims (car crash) but nobody else seems to remember...
I've never been on an aircraft carrier.
Peace.
