Hey was just wondering if since paul rodgers joined forces with bri and rodger there has been much chart success - anyone know what position rotc climbed to?. And what do you think about the new album getting anywhere in a mainstream chart?
I love the new tour/ band but i cant help but feel its been poorly marketed - queen even with a new frontman just as the name that carries so many hits should sell tickets out instantly but last year hyde park did not and forgive me if im wrong but it has taken dates this year a dam long time to sell out if at all.
I ask most people about the reformation of queen and they have no idea its taking nor that they were touring. Any ideas why?
Just curious - your profile says you're 18 and you became a fan in 1990. So ... you became a fan upon birth? Came out of the womb doing the Radio Ga Ga handclap and humming Don't Stop Me Now?
To get back to the topic -
I think ROTC did reasonably well. As for the new album, well that probably depends on how well it is marketed. Nowadays, to get chart success you need to market it really well. Doesn't matter about the quality of the music - if the music companies tell you to buy it, then you will. Prime examples are "artists" such as Duffy or Kate Nash - they have nothing really special to give but get tons of airplay on the commercial radio stations (which are paid to promote them) and so people buy them.
If the single(s) get good airplay on the mainstream stations and the video(s) get regular play on the music channels then they have a good chance of chart success. However, if only Capital Gold and Radio 2 play the music, then there is less chance.
It would be nice to see Queen in the charts again, and would prove a few points but I doubt they'll rock the pop charts (even if they do manage to rock the cosmos!)
My guess would be a reasonable chart position, probably top 10, for the album but the C-lebrity single will probably get to the top 20, maybe number 15, for a week or two and then disappear. Second single, number 30 for a week.

Does the quality of the single(s) have any bearing on the possible chart success, or is it only down to airplay and promotion?
I hate to say this (again!), but songs like Say It's Not True and C-Lebrity are crap. No amount of airplay or promotion can change that fact, and there isn't enough stepford fans left to guarantee the band any kind of success (as was witnessed with SINT).
