Received this quite recently also on a trade (and I only shared this before with one real Queen fan, btw, thanks for everything, man, you know who you are and what I’m talking about). I’m sharing this as it came (as the one before) so again, sorry folks got no more details on this gig. Perhaps you should ask for them to some bitter Mr. Know-All, and I mean, before he steps out of QZ to other site and (as before) present himself there as a frustrated collector or something of the kind (what a shame!). Maybe, at the same time, you could also ask him to post one or two shows here once in a while (sharing avoids bitterness) or just before he leaves :) Well, I rest my case now. Most of all, brothers and sisters, enjoy this nice show. Maybe, at the same time, you could also ask him to post one or two shows here once in a while (sharing avoids bitterness) or just before he leaves :)It's a fact that most people here don't understand why the Queen community is in worse shape than any other major collecting community. Don't shoot the messenger. Not that I need to defend myself to you on a personal level, but I'm far from bitter. I have a life outside of this forum, and couldn't care less about music trading when I'm not on here. I'm not really sure what you're trying to accomplish by attacking the person who has shared more lossless RoIOs with confirmed lineage here than anyone else. Not that I'm looking for a pat on the back, but as far as I'm aware it's the truth. I've been genuinely happy to contribute. Of course your recent shares are appreciated, but if a recording was shared on zappateers or genesis-movement without lineage like this one, it would be pulled within hours. With standards like that, those communities know only to put the best recordings out there. Tapers are happy to contribute to them, and those fine folks have many new recordings to enjoy each year. At Queenzone, however, not once has a taper come with a new Queen recording to offer. Most people here don't care or even understand how valuable it is to have a taper share their master recordings. We once had a taper of five Queen shows post here, and only one person besides myself posted asking him for further information. All I'm suggesting is it would help if people did a bit of homework before sharing things. That's why I created the "best recordings" section on my website for people to reference. Virtually every recording I've ever heard of is on there (save the umpteen versions of Hammersmith 75, Mannheim 86, etc.). I'm always happy to add to it if anyone has any new information to offer, like Olivier Ruth and his recent shares of 81/82 silvers. It's important that we're all on the same page if we want to be a community of people with a common goal that will ultimately benefit everyone - to get the best recordings circulated. Or if anyone else has a better goal, or the urge to create a bigger and more informative list of existing recordings, or better suggestions for anything on this matter that would benefit the community as a whole, then they are free to do so. Just please, don't treat me as if I'm the first person who has thought it's a good idea to treat old recordings and their tapers with respect. |

Hi ! First of all, thanks for the share. I'm French so this can be interesting for me. Ad I am sure it will !! Bob is right in a sense, a recording without lineage is not perfect. True. But I wonder how you could do to guess what the lineage is !! I'm a newbie in that field, but I understand that it is important. Well, let's say that it is a good share, but that the sharer here needs the help of the community to identify the correct lineage. Those who alrady have heard this recording or can compare with their files are needed, so we don't shoot you dear Roy. I think you would have shared the lineage if you had it. Now, maybe we should start these shares this way : "No lineage, sorry, and the person who gave me the recording didn't have any lineage to offer at all, so I'm asking your help to make this share perfect". Anyway, we have a date, I haven't checked (I can't do that because I don't have this recording yet anyway), but if it is correct then it's still a good thing ! Lineage is more than important, it allows to identify and compare the different sources that emerged along the years (when there are multiple sources), and why not create multi-sources recording that you, Pittrek, Bob, and anyone else, have gathered here and elsewhere these last years. I'm quite upset when we say that Dime is a better community than Queenzone... It's not normal. So if you guys can identify the lineage before shareing, do your homework, if not, then just sk for help, I'm pretty sure the community, full of friendly guys, would help you instead of telling you bad words or anything of that kind. Now Bob, you know I respect you, you're a really helpful Queenzoner, your website is a reference. the only lineage you have is : 04-20-82 Lyon - AUD > ? > CDR (x) But how do we know the lineage of this one ? I don't have much more details to give, and probably Roy neither. So, how can we have more details if the recording we receive from a trade for example has no lineage ? Trying to guess it means we could give wrong details. The best thing is to give people recording AND lineage in a trade; this way the lineage is never lost. But unfortunately that's not always the case. So if anybody could explain how we can get a lineage when it is not present in a trade, just write us two or three words about that ! So Bob, I am OK with you, you're right. The reaction you had (bitterness) is understandable, and Roy's one was not made to provoke a war on Queenzone between you two. Keep cool both of you ! Just that it seems that we need more information about lineage, and are searching for someone to teach us. Back to the topic, thanks for the share, and hope someone could add more information about the lineage! Regards, Olivier, France. |

So if anybody could explain how we can get a lineage when it is not present in a trade, just write us two or three words about that !It might be a naive concept to think that lineage should be attached with every recording from the moment it begins circulating. I'm thinking now of just how many silvers were shared on QZ that turned out to actually not be the correctly labeled silvers (Ie. “Done Under Pressure”, “Sweet Rhapsody”) Of all the things that are easily identifiable, silvers are the simplest to keep track of. Secondly, there's no need to guess at a lineage, if in the unfortunate (yet seemingly always case) of AUD>?>CDR(x), then that's what it is. Guessing and creating lineage only adds to confusion. If that’s how it got to you then so be it, and you can share from there. Maybe with time, new recordings and sources can be properly labeled and this can all be done away with. ruth.olivier wrote:I'm quite upset when we say that Dime is a better community than Queenzone.Well, it is. |

I can't talk of Dime, I have no access to it. But what I thought is that Queenzone being inferior to Dime (and I really think Dime is far superior in term of quality) means that we absolutely need a better community as far as trading is concerned, or to upgrade Queenzone, which can be considered as a good support to share (I think so). But I'm convinced that it won't happen that soon, so we have to care about the recordings ourselves. I myself had a great load of shows from a trade, mot of them without lineage, and I now have to compare my versions to other ones to find out what the good lineage could be. Bob's website link is a good reference for that. It still is a great load of work that could have been avoided. But quality was probably not the first in mind of all the Queen collectors until those last years. Now it's 2008, so maybe we could start to upgrade the quality level ourselves ! Just a little more time to spend and it would be OK ! I think we shoul ask for lineage available or not before trading, just to be informed, and make people aware that it IS important, and that a .txt file is just that helpful for everyone and might not be deleted. Regards, Olivier, France. |

What happens after they play "Play the Game"? Freddie seems disdainful and the audience is quite hostile. There are people speaking Italian (!) and calling him names, I guess: "bastardo!" |
Yara 12.04.2008 10:18 |
No, it's not "bastardo", thanks God. I think there was nothing wrong, though there are, really, people speaking in Italian, but I couldn't figure out what they say. Freddie seems a little bit...tired and pissed off. |
Yara 12.04.2008 10:25 |
Well, it's indeed in Lyon. That's a start: Afhet they play Tie Your Mother Down, Freddie says: "Bonsoir Lyon". But I'm still puzzled at what happens after Play The Game. lol Up until part now, it's the same source, though probably the transfer wasn't made from the first gen tapes. |

Roy, I have listened to parts a, b & c and, though it's indeed the Lyon concert and it does seem to come from the same source, I didn't listen to the mobile phone noise yet which the guy from queenconcerts.com refers to, so maybe you got a different source for the concert!!!! Really cool...well, I'm enjoying it, the sound quality is not good, but there's a lot of interesting things...Freddie is consciously sparing his voice and is not taking some of the higher notes he tended to take during this tour, and he "speaks" several verses instead of singing them. He seems to be pretty tired on this one...mentally and physically. They had played in Paris the night before, so it's no wonder...and they had been playing many concerts in a row and the end of 81 was pretty exhaustive to the band. Thanks, Roy, hope you people don't mind my "talking to myself", it's my way of sorting things out. Sorry! If anyone cares to listen to what happens after Play The Game and tell us what Freddie says in the very end of the track - "Are you [....]?" and - Italian fans will know it! - what the guys are saying in Italian in the background, I'd be grateful. I know it's not relevant. I'm just curious. lol |

Yara 13.04.2008 12:59 |
Though I didn't listen to the mobile phone noise which the guy from queenconcerts.com refers to. What's been shared here may be another source of the same concert. Of course, only way to know is comparing both - the ordinary version which is out there, and which is probably the one he refers to on his website, and the version which is been shared here. Of course, it may well be that I passed over the noise because, well, it's impossible not to get absent-minded for some time, especially when the sound is such a low quality, and it does have distortions that suggest that it did come from a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a transer of the original. Only my guess. I really enjoyed this share and I hope the lineage will come up. I'll listen to the whole recording again, carefully, and let's see if I can listen to the phone ringing. lol THANK YOU VERY MUCH, ROY. Now, will some legitimate British with Drake's blood in his veins tell us what the hell happens after Play the Game? lol. Freddie interrupts what he's saying and asks something to the audience. I'm curious. And that guys screaming in Italian in the background, so weird. I swear that, if Queen had included Italy in the European tour, I'd think that the concert was held in Italy. |

Okay... here's what happens after Play The Game: "Alright my little froggies. Bien. Is everything bien?" He laughs at himself as he seems to have learned how to use one more French word. He then starts to introduce the next song, but gets distracted by an audience member. "Are you Italian? Are you spaghetti?" I'm not sure what he says next (is it Italian?) before "This is called Staying Power." Sounds like he was one to get sucked into stereotypes. Or maybe he was kidding all around. Maybe it was the cocaine. Who knows... |

I got the feeling that "moronic" was not a kind word, I checked and indeed it seems you were not willing to congratulate her. Hope you were joking. If you think she is moronic, well feel free, but at least Yara is not making any harm to anyone nor to Queenzone, so keep polite, or do not say anything and keep your thoughts for yourself, will you ? I don't want to be hurting, but I feel like you wanted to. Just keep being respectful, my dear. Regards, Olivier, France. |
Queenrockyou 17.04.2008 18:34 |
Hi Dear Felix, You can very well feel she is ignorant and keep it for yourself, that's what I meant. I'm pretty sure some other Queenzoners feel the same, just as you, but think also that there is a limit that they should not cross to avoid freely being an arsh at Yara. She is what she is, you are what you are, and if everyone keeps his thoughts for themselves, then there should be no problem. It would be different if she was here only for giving bad words to a Queenzoner, then another one, and so on, but I dont think she is here for that reason. She just expresses herself, with her own way to do it, namely writing as she speaks and thinks. That's what I think. And that's not offensive. She is maybe not that constructive for you, but the forum is full of unconstructive discussions, as is the one I have now in my opinion. Yara adds her own view to the forum, and she probably feels happy to do so. She tries to provoke discussion, which is great on a forum. She has questions to ask and does so, and even if I don't agree with all she said, I don't feel the need to say she is an idiot or something, you get my thoughts ? So to sum up I don't want to be offensive to you, but I found you were offensive to Yara. That doesn't prevent me to welcome you as I would with every Queenzoner, I was just expressing my own thoughts. Just to say it was a little "too much", but that doesn't make me awake at night ! Have a nice night, Regards, Olivier, France. |

It's a place to express opinions and comment on things. Many performances of BoRhap sucked, and many were fantastic. If someone posts a list of all BoRhap performances and grades them from 1 to 10, I'll be the first one to applaud their efforts. Yara... keep the reviews coming. You're great. |
