My abiding memories of the concert are , the eternity (or so it seemed)that the audience had to endure chopin until curtain up, one lucky gal who managed to get onstage and freddie obligingly dancing with her for the few seconds until the heavies got to her, freddie throwing a tambourine into the audience. He stated that tonight was going to be 'a rock n roll night'and asking for requests then saying ;'we'll do em all!' ENCORE; 'saturday night's allright for fighting' (in glitter leotard). Greg Brooks was a mile off when he claimed a rendition of 'mull of kintyre'took place , was'nt even released until later in the year! Still got the ticket, very simple pink effort!and 5 (instamatic)photographs.Started hitching back to sunderland straight after show, one lad who gave us a lift, enthused how much he admired MICKEY! Mercury !!Ha Ha, never forget these memories.Seen them another 6 times after this and after getting myself a decent camera, got quite a collection of photos from , stafford bingley hall and wembley arena, may '78,Newcastle city hall, dec '79, birmingham nec, dec '80, edinburgh royal highland showground, june 82, st james' park newcastle, july '86. |
