My vote goes to an American band called Queen for a Day. The lead singer doesn't sound exactly like Freddie (who does?), but his live voice hits the same notes, and well. They're also a bit more original in their interpretation of the music--check Youtube for their version of BoRhap or their take on Dead On Time.
I went to a Queen tribute show in Oslo, Norway some years ago.
There were one guy on the piano, many different vocalists, 3 guitarists, a drummer and a choir of 200 people.
The guy on the piano played with one hand and waved the other hand at the choir (don't remember the English word).
It was amazing! But hard to book I guess.
Two weeks later I went to the Peter Freestone-show, and it was a big disappointment comparing to the other tribute concert. But of course it fun too.
Gary Mullen's good, but the band aren't the best. Personally I'd recommend Queen On Fire every time - the singer's not quite as good as Mullen, but the band are far better. link
There are a couple in the Uk that are good. QE2 and Magic. I saw QE2 in Stoke once, musically they are ok,they all dress up as Queen but their singer really thought he was Freddie, we were talking to him after the gig and he was so arrogant my mate threatened to twat him.
Magic were superb, Theyre a 6 peice band and they dont try to look like Queen but musically they are very very good. They even did the opera section from Bo Rhap.
I'd say the following are good to see as well. Almost Queen,Queen for a day, there's a good one called Queen Nation, they all live where I am in the US.
Yes,Gary and ONOQ are great as well,(and i'm just 2 weeks from seeing them in my state as well,I just got the tickets bought.)
There's this guy as well I recommend. link
Really great tribute act of Freddie imo.
Happy hunting.
we dont play queen songs in our shows in most times but I say the best tribute to QUEEN is definitly my band link
we blow away the talentless shit
easily the best band out there to day
