27 years ago the world lost one interesting human being who fought against war and made controversy around him, and shown his celebrity status to do things who were beyond his time.
R.I.P. John Wiston Ono Lennon
Rest in peace, John! It's so sad thinking of all the things you could have accomplished had you been alive today. :(
But it's wonderful to think of the amazing things you DID accomplish! You changed the world of music, and you made tons of individual people happy. :)

WTF?? He legally changed his last name from "Lennon" to "Ono Lennon"?
yep. He adopted the name Ono as a dedication to his wife, Yoko. I also remember him saying something about how he didn't like the name Winston, his given middle name.
lmao I almost forgot about Winston O'Boogie. That's gotta be the coolest name ever!
but seriously...John Lennon...the one man who saw the world for what it really was, and used his music to inspire and open the eyes of millions of people all over the world...
I had my little way of honoring his legacy; at 11:15 P.M. i turned off my light, lit a candle, and played "Imagine".
Every time I hear that song, I become more and more in touch with my inner sanctuary. The lyrics say it all:
'imagine no possesions
it isn't hard to do
nothing to kill or die for
and no religion too
imagine all the people
living life in peace'
A guy in a Mark Chapman documentary had a very good way of putting it. It went along the lines of; The violet impact of the bullets tore his vocal cords up. One of the most important voices of our time couldn't even speak his own last words.
A very wasteful death, really... people will talk about how violent he was towards his women, and his neglect of Julian, but I do believe that John Lennon was a guy headed in the right direction in 1980.
That was until he decided to park IN FRONT of the Dakota instead of driving all the way in....
But in all seriousness, December the 8th (or 9th, depending on how you feel) is an anniversary I have a hard time NOT commemorating, even in some silly way. I listened to the song "God", it was nice.
John Lennon like everybody else has his good and bad side.
Sometimes it's hard for me to take completely seriously a person who is singing about peace and love after he has cheated on his wife and neglected and ignored the child of his first marriage.
I love John Lennon, and he was a truly amazing musician, but I just can't hold in him in a higher shrine as everybody else.
Well... sometimes you have to see that not everything is perfect on this world.
Yes, John cheated on Cynthia and left Julian alone, but he was on a growing up period I think, when you make stupid things. He was as old as I am now when he started with Yoko, I know this time is time to still grow up. With this I'm not justifying the actions, just saying that evryone is human.

Well personally, I don't hold him higher than other people... I just like to believe that people can be redeemed, and that he might've gone some way to making up for his errors if his life had not been abbreviated.
