link I've got to admit that the recently released studio version of Queen + Paul's "Say It's Not True" is absolutely fabulous. Freddie's not there, I grant that, but Queen sound very much alive and well. It's mixed feelings, really, but the ultimate conclusion is that Queen, as it is today, still has what it takes. At minute 2:18, Paul's voice enters the song whilst Brian's red special cranks up and Roger tears up the drums. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the quintessential Queen sound is reborn. Not to sound like an overly emotional Queen fanatic; but I cried, then I listened to it 4 more times and cried some more. This track is beautiful. |

Now we have two versions - Roger's solo one and this one. The visuals in this one make it real - we are not just hearing about it but seeing it. It is Roger's solo version with his high, husky, cracked voice that reduces me to sobs every time. |

One song and you're done? So I take it you completely listen to an album prior to purchase. And if there's one bad song, then all bets are off!!! Could you please give me a list of albums where EVERY track is completely awesome? I'll start: Beatles - White Album Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue Led Zeppelin - Houses Of The Holy Journey - Escape Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick okay, I'm out. I can't think of anymore right now. And I don't have any Justin Timberlake albums. Maybe that's my problem. |

I dont like this song very much, but it has a lovely message(along w/ the video.) I prefer Roger's live performances of it. |

I really like it too, when I heard Brian's red special take off I thought to myself "ahh, they're back!" Besides, I would far rather Brian and Roger continue to bless us with music rather than spending their days completing jigsaw puzzles or playing lawn bowls, as people generally start doing as age ticks on |

You either are saying that you despise the current Queen makeup, or you actually somehow feel that it will take something away from the orignal band. See, I always wondered why any animosity this far past '91 could exist. If it works, fantastic, Queen returns. If it doesn't, well then that should easily be capable of showing an example of why Freddie is irreplaceable, and in no way could it possibly take away from Freddie's legacy. Overall I just view you anti-Paul guys as idiots one and all. You exhibit the human behaviour similar to a people who strive to uphold tradition by disrupting evoloution and progress. Initially the Queen + PR name made obvious sense since they were touring with 70% or more material taken from the orignal Queen catalogue source of songs. Today I see two great reasons for keeping the name. One is the identification of the half of Queen remaining and their legacy, helping to promote and commercially boost a proven winner via the modern version made up. But my main hope for keeping the Queen + PR name is for nothing better or beyond the fact that it annoys so many people and for those who dissaprove of the Queen identity being morphed for this project, I only wish the utmost irritation via use of the orignal name, and I hope it hits you right where it hurts because my only personal hang up is the lack of a unique identity for a trio who has taken Queen's music and transformed it into a new greatness all shiny and new. But iof it pissess you anti-Pauls off, it's worth going as far as just straight up calling them Queen again. To hell with you negative bastards who can't just take the reunion as an alternative to zilch. |

AmeriQueen wrote: You either are saying that you despise the current Queen makeup, or you actually somehow feel that it will take something away from the orignal band. For me, it's neither. If Roger and Brian want to tour, write and record with Paul, they should. I've nothing against it. I don't begrudge them anything. I'm just not into the sound or feel of their work and so wouldn't put a request for their material on my Wish List. In this song, as mentioned earlier, when Brian's solo came, it was familiar and sounded like Queen. But the rest - the voices, the emotion, the overall feel of the song - wasn't enjoyable to me. It didn't just sound different - different can be great - it sounded bad. The lyrics of course are powerful and there's an important message in it, but as for the song itself, it's not something I would buy or listen to for sheer pleasure, nor is it something I'd drag a friend over to and say, "you've got to hear this." This song was highlighted, promoted in emails announcing free downloads, and touted as something special. I downloaded it immediately and listened to it. I listened to it again when I saw the link in this thread. I don’t care if they call themselves Queen or Queen + Paul Rodgers. For me, it's not about the name. It's about the sound. And I found the sound of this to be a major let down. |

There will never be anyone better than Freddie. I will, however, say that,in the light of there being no one better,i for one am very much in favour of Paul being part of the band.He is an excellent singer/frontperson and just what Brian and Roger need IMO. As i said in the original SINT post.Brilliant song and cant wait for the album. |

I must admit having listened to it a few times it does seem a bit cheesey as a charity single its for a good cause & a free download is nice. But i think they've tried to cram it all into 4 minutes, 3 vocalists, big drums, big guitars etc i just dont feel its warranted i think a purely acoustic version would have worked better with all 3 singers |

I figured that the Queen RIP crew would come in and rain on our parade. Paul Rodgers has given Brian and Roger whatever motivation necessary to continue recording as Queen. For that, I am thankful. |

@microwave: i really tried to listen to the stuff "queen" now does with rodgers. i've watched a show they played on the telly and had to turn it off when rodgers was not able to sing the chorus of we are the champions. instead the background girls had to sing it... come on.... about the albums with all good songs on it: basically all queen albums of the 70s era. weezer - pinkerton death cab for cutie - transatlanticism arcade fire - funeral i've been listening to queen all my life and it's really not only about freddie for me. i was mad at brian when he allowed something like "queen dance tracks" in germany or even the horrible work with FIVE... i just don't know why. it's certainly not for the money. i hope it's for the fun of it but somehow i will never understand why him and roger are destroying the work they built up over the years. why can't they just be like john? it's all over for him and he's fine... i just don't get it. |

Ok...interesting. Wow. Umm...ok I personally love this song. Beautifully written song on Roger's part. I think it's sang beautifully because uh..yeah you only hear Paul like once, so that's a plus. So far, so good. Let's see where they take it. Also, I agree with whoever said they had to turn the tv off when Paul couldn't sing We Are the Champions because I totally understand where your coming from. It's like death to ears. I really can't listen to me. The dude can't even freakin remember the lyrics! He's f'n pitiful. The fam and I just basically sit there and mock him. Any new material that Paul is singing, I doubt I'm going to like. This one was peaceful because my ears didn't bleed. Otherwise, I'm sorry to any Rodgers fans I'm upsetting, but I personally, don't like the guy. He just doesn't cut it for Queen...sooooorrrrrry! You know, somebody said on here, why should they go out and ruin all the wonderful music they made like this? Well, number one, I want them to tour and remain succesful...Show Must Go On, just like Freddie wanted it to, but the statement should be...why should they ruin their music with PAUL singing it, instead of getting someone who actually sings the same style as Queen...Paul is completely different. He doesn't bring that. He has more of a southern rock feel. They seriously need to do what Journey has done and look on damn youtube! It worked for them, and I know there are many that can do the job. Not that they're trying to replace Freddie, but to keep the same sound, and stlye. Otherwise, I don't know where Queen is going to end up. |

The song is lovely and sad. Also sad because Freddie would have given the song so much more. I did enjoy hearing Brian's guitar, in all of its glory, come in. It did give a hint of that Queen sound, which I love. For me, Queen=Brian, Freddie, John and Roger. They just don't sound like Queen to me, now. |
