Hi, was just wondering if anyone could give the chord progressions for the verse and chorus of spread your wings and also the chord progression in the hero from the start to when the verse starts again.
cheers.
Well, since I couldn't find reliable source for the chords of this song on internet I tried to figure out the chords myself. And surprisingly I realised they changed the key of the song for live performances. It starts in A major like the album version but it turns to E major just right before the singing starts. I guess the only reason for changing it was that Freddie couldn't reliably hit so many high notes at the very beginning of the show, or it was much more comfortable for him to sing it lower. So here are both versions including different intros. It wasn't as easy as I supposed. Any comments or suggestions welcome. It goes something like this:
THE HERO /live version/
intro:
D A/C# D A/C# D G/B
C G/B C G/B Dm A/C# Dm A/C#
F C/E F D/F# G E/G#
|:A D/A A:| E
B E
So you feel that you ain't nobody
B E
Always needed to be somebody
A A/G#
Put your feet on the ground
A/F# A/E
Put your hand on your heart
B/D# B/C#
Lift your head to the stars
B A
And the world's for your taking
|:E A/E E:|
So you feel it's the end of the story
Find it all pretty satisfactory
Well I tell you my friend
This might seem like the end
But the continuation
Is yours for the making
Yes you're a hero
