There is a track floating around that claims to be a instrumental demo of Princes of the Universe. It is 45 seconds long
Does anyone know if it is real? It's definitely not the eye version, but because I can't find any information on it, I am suspicious.
Someone showed me the sample and it didn't sound like a genuine demo or outtake to me.
Why can't we never get rid of this urban legend that demos have to be 40 second versions in bad quality :P
There is an instrumental edit of Princess Of The Universe taken from an unreleased early master of the original film version. This edit is from the ending of one of the HIGHLANDER TV series Season 1 episodes.

Very annoying isn't it?
I couldn't agree more. I just want to be honest with people, so when I say I have a track, they know exactly what it is.
Sometimes I wonder if it worth the effort
I think it's also annoying that the stuff in the Freddie Mercury boxset isn't properly labelled.
Everything is like 'Later version', 'Early version' Instead of 'Take 2' 'Demo' 'Take 35, Slave' or something like that.
I hope they will do ir properly in a Queen boxset

But the reason why everything is labelled as a "demo" is so that desperate collectors can try to trade the track to get other rare tracks - hoping others will fall for it. Very often, those tracks from "The Eye" will be labelled as demos.
Back to topic... this is the one we're talking about?: link

Damn you for sharing it just like that, now it's not rare any longer!
And it's even in mp3! You should be banned :P

Props for Greg for including the recording dates though.
However, if the Queen boxsets will ever surface I hope they won't edit tracks together again like they did with LOMO (and some others I believe?). I'd rather have two incomplete takes then 2 incomplete takes seamlessly edited.
