I don't know if this has been shared before.
(imo it's also not in the Freddie Solo box)
This is a 50 minute interview where Freddie does all the talking. He talks about Body Language being played live for the first time, about Hot Space, his working with The Royal Ballet, about Montserrat Caballé and about fame. link
It's in mp3 format, 116MB.
I also have it in WAV but being an interview I thought mp3 would do.
Thanks for this, Rien. Always good to see an interview shared.
At the 15 minute mark, it clearly changes - which implies this is more than one interview put together. Can you give any information on date and place, Rien?
I'm going through a shoebox full of old audio cassettes. Never know what to find!
I came across material that has already been shared here over the years of course.
This tape said "Freddie interview 1982", and it must be because Freddie says in the interview that Body Language was played "that day" for the first time live.
He talks about Montserrat, not about meeting her, but about seeing a show of her and he expresses his admiration for her. Very nice to hear him talk about that, knowing that some years later he did collaborate with her.
Have no information about the location of this interview but on my tape I found some short interviews with John, Brian and Roger, perhaps in Leeds during the Hot Space tour, I have to look up tourdates to see if that's possible.
Freddie also says he is 35 and turns 36 that year so it must be 1982.
To put this in time perspective for myself: In 1982 I visited London for the first time and also visited the Queen Fan Club Office. It was in April 1982. Body Language was just released as a single and I remember this because in the Queen FC Office there were scrapbooks laying around for fans to write something down as a message to Queen. I wrote something like: "I love your Body Language".
A week later after my visit to London I went to Rotterdam and saw Queen perform live for the first time. So it was quite a Queen-week for me!
Thanks for the additional info, Rien. That helps figure some things out.
I did also catch the comment about "the album that came out last year" as being in a new musical direction, which would refer to Hot Space more than Works and AKOM.

Wasn't it in Leiden you saw them then because I think they performed in Leiden and not in Rotterdam that year and (the following years).
Does somebody know if this interview is available somewhere now?
