Thought i'd start a new post. Live in Rio out on 9th April (assuming that's a UK format date). I assume it's the full version rather than the 'TV slot 50 min version' link |

Label: Quantumleap? Only one disk? Looks like those brazilian bootlegs to me.... Jan |
max_fast 01.04.2007 16:36 |
Well, seems we already have got it released here! I bought it some weeks ago. Same company released Live in Japan 1985. Length is 59:25 minutes. And looks not like a bootleg to me, at least it says "licensed by Queen Film Ltd." |
Penetration_Guru 01.04.2007 16:46 |
Right, cos bootleggers wouldn't think to put that on the sleeve... |

Penetration_Guru wrote: Right, cos bootleggers wouldn't think to put that on the sleeve...I have got hundreds of bootlegs, but I never found something like "Licensed from Queen ... "! Check your bootlegs!! You will see, they are not so stupid to do that!! Licensed and distributed is mentioned, but never any kind of Queen Company! And there is good reason for that! |
Tero 02.04.2007 10:42 |
"Same company released Live in Japan 1985." I'm sorry to say this, but this alone proves you have a bootleg/pirate copy made from the earlier official releases... The only company to have officially released the Live in Japan DVD is Japanese, and is NOT called Quantumleap! |
max_fast 02.04.2007 13:58 |
My copy of Japan is not from Quantumleap, sorry! Is from a company called Masterplan. Cover looks like this: link Cover of "Live in Rio" looks like this: link Was released last month in germany it seems. |
PieterMC 02.04.2007 13:59 |
I am willing to bet that it's still 100% UNOFFICIAL |
max_fast 02.04.2007 14:04 |
I found a picture of the cover at amazon, see it yourself! (link is above) Does amazon sell bootlegs? |
PieterMC 02.04.2007 14:09 |
max_fast wrote: I found a picture of the cover at amazon, see it yourself! (link is above) Does amazon sell bootlegs?YES... they do. Look up Queen in Nuce. It's a bootleg and openly sold by Amazon. |

["My copy of Japan is not from Quantumleap, sorry! Is from a company called Masterplan." No wonder you have problems spotting the differences between official and pirate releases, if you have problems telling the differences between the bootleg labels which are actually written on the package. :/ |
dobo 02.04.2007 14:44 |
Amazon also have the Live in Rio DVD: link |

Some years ago Mr. Bad Guy was also not available here in Europe, while you could buy it offically in the US. So no idea if that CD at ebay ever was released like this in the UK like the seller says! Apart from that Star Fleet was anyway released as b-sides to Back to the Light. |

Tero wrote: No wonder you have problems spotting the differences between official and pirate releases, if you have problems telling the differences between the bootleg labels which are actually written on the package. :/So the Live in Montreal must be a bootleg too, right?? Strange that it is official! No EMI, no Queen Productions and still an official release! |

max_fast wrote:Until recently Montreal was never owned by QP. Those other concerts are owned by QP. Strange that it is official! No EMI, no Queen Productions and still an official release! I know it's hard to understand, and even some of the moderators on the official website have been fooled by the products being "available in their local shop", but quite simply you have no clue what you're talking about. |
max_fast 03.04.2007 02:31 |
And I think you have no idea!! You think that only what is owned by Queen Productions or EMI is official! How foolish to think so!! Just that this is not the case!! There is so many footage around that is owned by TV stations or other private companies. A bootleg does not care about copyright at all. Montreal is a normal legally correct release, just not owned by Queen Productions!! |
Double-U 03.04.2007 03:35 |
Hey folks, yesterday they wrote on queenonline.com that the next DVD-release for the Queen DVD collecion will be "Montreal" It´ll come with extras (yet unknow which face they´ll have) and maybe a different title then the usual VHS-release. So this is official and all the other stuff from the end of nowhere is just a pirate´s cottage. End of session. W. |

I wonder who that was, because that somebody sure is foolish and unaware of any actual legal matters. Let's just look at the facts of this release again... It hasn't been advertised anywhere, it's a direct copy from at least a decade old release with no extras, it's only being sold by one merchant through Amazon and two in EBay for half the price of any official dvds, and so far you are the only person to have seen it in a shop Why on Earth would anybody believe this is anything other than a bootleg dvd at best, and more likely just a pirate release? |

anything from masterplan is bootlegs. have several releases from that company, and none are official |
MercuryArts 09.04.2007 10:26 |
Releasing this DVD would be a downer. I think they have exhausted the 80's concert releases. To similar a set list from 84-86. At least IMO. |
cmsdrums 10.04.2007 08:29 |
Whilst HMV have this down for release yesterday (9/4/07), Play have it for July - see here: link They also have tracklisting (same as VHS) and some marketing text saying "tankfully, zero varnish has been added to the raw sound on these live recordings from 1985, making this drumfire of hits charmingly rough around the edges" So, in summary, "charmingly rough around the edges" means still sounds as crap as the original release - I don't know how QPL let them get away with it. From memory, this is a Queen Films Ltd concert, but maybe the local TV company responsible for the TV rights in Brazil also have some control over the rights?? |

Nope, it´s Montreal 81... |
