Anyone know where there is collected (in one place) all of the artwork from the Innuendo album and singles? I'm looking for the untouched artwork not the actual covers (although that will do if nothing else is available). Alos looking for the News of the World artwork (inside and out) again prefferably untouched (without titles, etc.)
Please do not direct me to the hodgepodge that is the picture section on this site. It is grossly mismanaged and unorganized. I tried searching on this site and google and could not really find what I wanted. I want to know if there is a central repository for this material.
Thanks again
Hey there,
I just can tell u something about the Innuendo-paintings. The painter is called Grandville. You can find books full of his artwork nearly in every old book-store. Okay I just can say that for Germany. Here you can by these books for a low price.
one link as an example: link
very long but it´s worth it. There you can find the complete works of Grandville in two books for just 25 € plus postage. Of course these books are in german but for the paintings that doesn´t matter.
regrads from Germany

See my site for some original Grandville illustrations. See menu-item Back Chat.
Under menu-item Wallpapers there you can find a wallpaper of NOTW which I made.
Another thing about the Grandville illustrations is that they play a big part in the surrealist and dada movements. Max Ernst's Une Semaine De Bonte: A Surrealistic Novel in Collage uses Grandville a lot of cut-up Grandville illustrations to make some really freaky works. My book cover illustrator did that when doing the cover of my second Queen book, sort of doing a quote-within-a-quote of both the Innuendo cover, which colorized the Grandville illustrations, and the Ernst, by chopping some of them up, colorized.

Thank you thank you thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. Your site is amazing. I'm sure you won't mind me using your wallpapers as my Myspace background in the future.
There are collections currently in print for both J.J. Grandville and Frank Kelly Freas:
"Fantastic Illustrations of GRANDVILLE" (266 Illustrations from 'Un Autre Monde' and 'Les Animaux'), Dover Publications Inc., ISBN # 0-486-22991-2
This is a great collection, with all the illustrations Grandville did for the series "Un Autre Monde" and "Les Animuax", both of which Queen took illustrations from and used for all the Innuendo releases. Grandville was a French illustrator (not a painter) born in 1802 and died in 1847.
And the Frank Kelly Freas book...
"Frank Kelly Freas: As He Sees It", Paper Tiger, ISBN # 1-85585-848-7
A wonderful collection of Freas' art and illustrations. The cover features the the painting "The Gulf Between", which he later altered for News Of The World. Freas and his wife wrote the text for the collection, which features wonderful anecdotes (even mentioning Queen) on almost every piece.
I didn't have much trouble finding these books. The Grandville book I got at Indigo Books (a big chain in Canada) and the Freas book I got used on Amazon. Having the ISBN numbers should help you immensely, as it's faster for most bookstores to look them up by number than by title or author.
Happy hunting!
