Hi
“'A Kind Of Magic'” [...] It was a hit worldwide, reaching Number 3 in the UK, and reaching Number 1 in 35 other countries. "
“'I Want It All' [...] was a hit across Europe, reaching Number 1 in many European countries [...]

Anyone no which countries these songs reached the top positions in?
Also, i read somewhere that the single 'Barcelona' reached topped the charts in Spain, can anyone confirm?
Best regards,
Matteus
That may have been true, but here in the USA, it was completely ignored. It's considered a crap song and album here and I agree.

#15? That makes it a "Smash hit?" Most Queen fan here totally ignored it here. That particular ablum is nothing more than tripe. Everyone in Europe is under the impression that the "Break free" had something to do with down fall in popularity in the USA. Yeah right.

Are you sure "magic" made #15 in the states?...I don't think so, Radio ga ga was the last top 40 in america, and a kind of magic was in fact a smash worldwide hit. Only in america it didn't do well.
That's incorrect. 'A Kind Of Magic' reached #42 in the US.

I know Wikipedia is considered a dubious source, but #42 for AKOM is what's been reported over the years.
I knew it didn't chart at 15, but 42 still isn't as bad as I thought. With a little better marketing it could have cracked the the top 40. Good song and great video.
I just can write the facts about the album "A Kind Of Magic".
It reached number 1 in the UK
and it climbed up to or slept at number 46 in the US. So it is written in the Book "As It Began" by Jim Jenkins and Jacky Gunn.
So for me it´s hard to believe that the single reached the top 50 in the states, while even the album failed the top forty.

It is considered a shitty album here (USA)Nobody here wanted to hear that crap from them. They didn't even have the balls to tour here after Hot Space.
That's due to the fact Queen was considered a hard rock band in the USA... usually Queen would even release rockier tracks in the US than the UK (the UK got Save Me, Spread Your Wings, etc). We got Need Your Loving Tonight, It's Late, etc)
Queen fans in the US were used to their hard rock stuff, but when it got to be more like pop, they stopped buying Queen's music.

The single didn't reach the top 40 (nor did the album) and it's just too bad it had to happen that way.
Maybe a pure Soundtrack-Album for the Highlander-Movie would had been a better idea in those days in the US.
There are a lot of Hard-Rock songs included:
Gimme The Prize, Princess Of the Universe or Hammer To Fall. Also the New York,New York-Theme and the final version of A kind Of Magic are brilliant and rocky. I think this version sounds much better than the album version.
