Hello friends!
I am brand new to the group. In fact, this is my very first post. I'm not a new Queen fan (when it comes to the main hits), but being a major George Michael fan, my eyes were opened to more of the rest of Queen's amazing music after Freddie's passing. Anyway, I don't have every album and can't name every song, etc, but the songs I like, I LOVE, and being a singer and drummer myself, I appreciate Queen for their brilliant vocal work and masterful musicianship. Additionally, I reworked a remix I made from when I was a DJ back when I was in my early 20's (with not much more than 2 turntables and a tapedeck). Using Cakewalk Pyro, I produced an extended version which you can check out on MySpace: link
Take care!
Not bad. You have good editing skills. My only complaint would be the repeating of verse 3, though hearing it earlier was a surprise.
If you love playing around with music and love Queen, you'd probably have lots of fun with the 'Greatest Karaoke Hits' tracks, (available as an import from Japan) if you've not heard of them before. They're remixed from the original tapes and just leaving out the lead vocal, so you get some instrumental material you could have fun working with in extended mixes.. for example in your mix here you could have had an instrumental version of verse 3 in one of those places so the verse itself wouldn't repeat.
There's also some stuff to work with on DVDs and DVD-Audio discs.
Here's one I did in about 30 minutes this morning, just messing around: link
Not my best work, but better than I thought I could do since the mad cow set in.
@ TheMIKEFORDEffect; Nice version :) altough it's not the hardest song to edit it's nicely done :).
That earlier starting from the 3rd verse fits well I think.
Hey friends!
Thanks for the feedback and info.
That KARAOKE/DVD set look killer...looks like I found my birthday present.
The other mix I did with my vinyl, back in the day, actually turned out a bit cooler. Beat to beat, I mixed MAKE IT HAPPEN by MARIAH CAREY into ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST (which had more flash than this version using other little audio clips on top, etc) in the same V1, V2, V3, Bridge format into LAST NIGHT A DJ SAVED MY LIFE. I think I might still have the mix on cassette somewhere. It was great for when I wanted a 10 minute break...heehee!!!
Anyway, thanks again for the comments and welcoming to the group!
Mike
