I got the Lover of life, singer of songs dvd for Christmas and I just tried to play it and it does not work. When I put it in my dvd player says error. Has this happened to anyone else? I noticed on the back of the case it says "Freigegeben ohne altersbeschrankung" and some other stuff. Is it not meant for the USA?
I see a lot of numbers.. which one? Also I forgot to mention the dvd was ordered from the same company as a Rudolf Nureyev dvd which is also having the same problem.
It shouldn't be a region problem. I don't believe they regionally coded any of those. Mine is the UK PAL version and doesn't have region coding.
It's probably PAL and you must not have the ability to play that format. If you have a DVD drive on your computer it should work there.
I believe you can order a South American version online which is NTSC, also there's a Japanese one which is too.

Freigegeben ohne Altersbeschraenkung simply means that it is not rated. No AO, no PGR or anything. It is german, and it means that everyone can watch it, no matter what age.

The Phillips DVP642 os only about $49.99 at Circuit City. Look in your Sunday paper. It is always on sale. If you buy the new NTSC dvd, this will cost you $20. If you get the 642, you can have a reliable machine that can play PAL, VCD, SVCD, JPEG, DivX, mp3 cd, dvd audio, everything!!!
I don't know German too well, but I thought "Freigegeben ohne Altersbeschraenkung" translates roughly to "DoRo needs fast cash to pay for their inground pools."
