If you could redo the set list for the Live Aid set from any of there albums or songs, what would you have done it as?Here's mine. 1. One Vision 2. We Will Rock You (Fast) 3. Live killers Medely (DOTL,KQ,INLWMC) 4. Bohemian Rhapsody (Full version [with live opera] 5. We Will Rock You (Slow) 6. Friends Will Be Friends 7. We Are The Champions 8. God Save The Queen (Live[Not Playback]) |

Soooooo, have them play: 1) two songs that weren't written yet; 2) songs that had been out of the set list (WWRYfast, DOTL, KQ, IILWMC) for several years, 3) a song that never featured a live opera when performed in concert, 4) the national anthem, that they never played live before, and 5) a forty-ish minute set as compared to the standard twenty minutes... Frankly, Queen's set was perfect. If anything, I'd've had The Who perform THEIR biggest hits (Who Are You, Baba O'Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again) and the song Pete Townshend wrote for the occasion (After The Fire) than change anything that Queen did. |

At least we saw them do Who Are You at Live 8, and not too shabbily either. |

Suigi wrote: I agree with you there. At least we saw them do Who Are You at Live 8, and not too shabbily either.Agreed -- their Live 8 set was great, but much too short. I more preferred their Concert For NYC set, mostly because it had The Ox in it and two more songs (though I can't stand Behind Blue Eyes -- don't throw things at me!). I mean, Love Reign O'er Me is a wonderful, wonderful song -- one of my favorites -- but it's not for Live Aid. I can see why Pinball Wizard and My Generation were played, but to not have performed Baba O'Riley is just a sin. |
saltnvinegar 18.01.2007 02:59 |
It was perfect as it was....though in the ideal world I'd have brought Bowie on for a live Under Pressure-then it would have been perfectly perfect! |
john bodega 18.01.2007 05:20 |
Watching them clown around at the end of Won't Get Fooled Again remains (to me) a great Who moment, even if ol' Keith wasn't there. Who Are You at Live 8... I'm probably alone in this, but I kinda like the heavier sound that Starkey gives it, as opposed to the guy who played at Live 8 (I've just had a brain freeze, forgive me...) All told though, Live 8 was a good show on the part of the older bands. PINK FLOYD, fucks sake!! |
Gratzi 18.01.2007 07:58 |
Oh... How I would like to redo Live Aid... Here's the list of songs I would like them to play : 1. Bo-Rap ( short version) 2. All God's People 3. Let Me Live 4. We Will Rock You ( for those who didn't come to the concert specially for Queen) 5. Friends Will Be Friends 6. The Show Must Go On and towards the end of the show - of course - 'Is This The World We Created?' & 'One Vision'. |

Instead of Hammer To Fall or CLTCL, I would have had AOBTD or I Want To Break Free as the latter two were surely bigger hits. Plus each member would have had one of their songs in the setlist; wonder if John felt sore about it... |

Bo Rap We will rock you ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST Crazy Little thing called love Killer Queen We are the champions On that day Radio Ga Ga was fantastic, but it was a song that could be performed badly, but that day they nailed it so it'd have to be included. Hammer to fall is the only one that kinda ruins it!! Why didnt they play AOBTDust (besides it being about saving peoples lives)...? |

no. let's play along. where does this progress to? well if we change live aid...then let's change queen's previous tours, albums and even the line up so how about queen being Art garfunkel, half of bucks fizz, and two thirds of hanson? and how about they only perform sogns from T'Pau's back catatlogue? 'nuff said! |

Freddie rocked to that more than he ever has, and it's the best version out of like 8 different concert recordings I have of the song! |

I like his performance of Hammer to Fall better at Live Aid. I also like the idea of doing the shorter version of the song. However, the drum sound at Live Aid really was pretty pisspoor.... that is the one thing that has always bugged me. |

ya the drum sound is kinda lousy. like we will rock you it sounds weak. but on the other hand i thought brians guitar sound was great |

1. Tie Your Mother Down (00.00-3.20) 2. Hammer To Fall (3.20-7.31) 3. Don't Stop Me Now (7.31-10.22) 4. Under Pressure + Vocal improvisation (10.22-15.01) 5. Bohemian Rhapsody Without Opera (15.01-18.48) 6. We Will Rock You (18.48-20.00) Tie Your Mother Down because it was a great live song. Hammer To fall because it was an even better live song. Don't Stop Me Now because it is my favorite song. Under Pressure because it was a great live song. Vocal improvisation because it just has to be there. Bohemian Rhapsody because it just had to be there. They should have remade the solo after the ballad a bit and went into the rock part of the song, skipping the opera in a nice way. We Will Rock You because it just had to be there. |

"Hhmmm.... But didnt they pick on me first? Or does that just seem to pushed aside?" Come now chap. Noo, freddie didnt sing that line because he had just finished grinding the camera man and the mic wasnt near enough his mouth to pick it up, you can see him sing it, just not hear it :PHmm I'm pretty sure the 'decay' line was deliberately left out. If you look closely, Freddie is speaking but not saying the lyrics. Plus Brian plays a note on the guitar which is not usually played at that part of the song. |
